The thing is, I don't know how accurate that would be. A lot of AEW's guys were big stars in Japan. Although I think there is a future relationship between DG and AEW. If I'm not mistaken aren't OWE and Dragon Gate associated? Like I thought OWE was Dragon Gate's attempt to expand, with CIMA (a Dragon Gate Legend) being the guy leading the charge. I might be wrong, but I think this whole thing is a massive work with journalists running with the little information they have to make a story. CIMA/OWE is not affiliated with Dragon Gate. Well, wouldn't be the first time I've been wrong. Certainly won't be the last.

Congrats to Adam Page for fumbling the bag over a chip. Should have got full gear ready, geek

Something to think about, AEW is asking for $50 for this show. PAC vs Page was surely one of the more highly anticipated matches. If they don't announce a replacement for this, could that badly effect the buyrate for this show?

They have to announce something for Page to do.
I really hope this isn't some elaborate work. They've been promoting this match since day one and it would be some carny shit to pull it a week before just because.

Some reports are saying that Pac was laying on the floor of the locker room, and back at the hotel was standing in front of the door audibly complaining about the result of the upcoming Page match.

If they can't find a replacement opponent for Page, there's always the Casino Battle Royale (should someone scheduled to compete in the match is out between now and May 25th due to injury or other reasons)

I don't know, I wonder what counterprogramming is on TV besides a if necessary game 6 of the Eastern Conference finals...

On the subject of it potentially being a Visa issue: PAC hasn't wrestled in the US since October of 2017, nearly a year and a half. He had these issues on Wrestlecon. I think the "Creative Differences" is a lot of wrestling journalists taking the ball and running with it. They know PAC's been unbeaten since winning the Dream Gate Belt, so they assume that's why. I think this is just them covering the Visa issue, if it weren't why would they have Page going overseas to have this match, have it end that way, and announce they'd put the match up on Youtube? It's a work to set shit up for later, once the Visa issues clear up we'll get a proper angle. Yeah, I’m turning a corner on the whole visa reason myself, especially the video I put up earlier from the WrestleTalk perspective of the show. They probably wouldn’t have wanted PAC saying he’s quit the company at another indie promotion if there wasn’t something to that.

If someone's going to put the money down for the show, I'd imagine they'd also probably be pretty invested in some of the other matches.

Meltzer saying its not a visa issue is something though. He’s pretty much AEW’s unofficial news guy.

Even if he's not an EVP, he's a full-fledged member of The Elite, and someone poised to be in the top World title scene when they start incorporating the titles. He's getting a main card match for sure.

I mean, sure, but Meltzer was the one who was told about the alleged backstage issues in NJPW that was debunked pretty quickly by most people involved. And the point of him not working in America since 2017 shouldn’t be ignored either. Hell, he didn’t work this year for those reasons.

If they don't announce a replacement for this, could that badly effect the buyrate for this show? it won't tank the buyrate, but it'll hurt it. longtime fan of Adam Page, but he was not the draw in that match. PAC is the biggest name to get up and walk out on WWE since Punk, and for all intents and purposes this was his comeback match for American audiences. unless they're signed up for Dragon Gate's streaming service or the specific streaming services of the various European promotions he's been competing in, this was their first chance to see him since he gave Vince & Co the ol' Austin salute and said "I'm better than this s*** you've got me doing". when you've got a fan sitting on the fence debating about whether or not to order the show, this is exactly the type of thing that'll help push them over the edge and make them order

It seems strange that this just happens now, have they not thought it out earlier? Or did Pac just change his mind now and said "nah"? Or did they have problems with Pac since a while and just now found a proper replacement like Moxley, so they now do the dq elsewhere to be done with it and get the replacement match ready?

Coincidentally, WWE sent them back Tony storm and when they tried to book her against one of their bigger stars, WWE were like “nope. We ain’t giving you the Uk champion so you can beat her”. Yeah. During the Toni challenge she was only allowed to draw against Momo, who’s their ace, and Kagetsu, who’s obviously a top star and beat everyone else. Once Bea got the title and it was clear she wasn’t losing, they replaced her with Kagetsu. Makes me think WWE wasn’t even open to a draw or Stardom wanted Bea to win outright for whatever reason (maybe a draw right after winning the title wasn’t good with them either) It was mainly because Bea is an AEW talent, and also because she's now the champion. The only times WWE vs. AEW have worked out have both involved WALTER, against PAC (funnily enough) and Fenix.

And with both happening in WWE partner promotions, there’s less of a factor of them doing silly things that affect the one who pays some of the cheques.

People thinking this is a work/visa issue,
I don’t think a new company with no tv and $50 price tag for its first official show should be having angles where a guy says he doesn’t want to wrestle for your show because he doesn’t want to drop his title because he likes this other company more.

To be fair, the angle right now is that PAC wanted to hurt Page in Vegas. But since he actually hurt Page in Nottingham by pillmanising his leg there instead of Vegas, he doesn’t need to go so quit. I mean, it’s not a GREAT angle but it’s a better explanation in kayfabe.

Dave Meltzer said on Observer Radio this morning that PAC refused to lose to Kenny Omega in a future program, which is why AEW planned to have Page go over next week.
