Maybe my fandom has been fleeting for years.
I just can’t get myself to care about AEW. It just feels like a Cody and his superkicking frat boy friends vanity project.
I don’t care for workrate. I want storylines. I want over the top.
I’m not asking for TNA 2.0 but who the hell are most of these guys? Would it hurt to sign a guy like Wade Barrett or Carlito. It just feels to ROH/NJPW for me to care.
I hope they are successful. But yeah sign Ryback or something.

It may be really, really good. But I feel there's a hype it can't live up to. My God, even Cody isn't as hostile and hyped up as other guys are about it. Plus it already has obnoxious fanboiz that are another turnoff. (When someone can't stop talking about something, sometimes it makes me sour in general... unfair, I know, but that's me)

I have been dying to see a legit, deep-pocketed competitor to WWE emerge. I would love to see someone go out there and present an old school, sports like product to offset WWE’s foolishness.
While I’m hopeful from some of the early news, I am skeptical that my preferred type of old school wrestling will come from a company that is co-run by guys who have a finishing move named after Dave Meltzer. I’m afraid it will present wrestling in a new, yet equally obsurd way as WWE.
But I am supporting them until I am proven wrong.

I don’t. Just not interested in a product that it revolves around the idea that pro wrestling is a real athletic competiton. I want stories beyond guy claims to be best in the world 1 vs guys who claims to be best in the world 2. I want WWE style with competence. This is an alternative not meant for me, not a substitution

I'm kind of confused here: for those saying it'll be too sports-like or whatever, these guys ran All In as their proof of concept and booked a hardcore match that included Donkey Kong-esque barrel jumping and culminated with Joey Ryan rising from the dead and being led to the ring by Dick Druids.

As someone who can usually find something to enjoy in WWE, I care immensely.
I hope AEW is as successful as possible, not because I want WWE to fail or even necessarily to get WWE to up their creative game, but because it’s good for the health of the business to have a lot of wrestling companies doing well.
There needs to be other avenues in the US for this generation of talent to get nationwide exposure outside of WWE simply for the sake of variety.
And they’re going to have tons of storylines. It’s not going to be UWF Japan/UWFi where it’s nothing but serious realism. The press release makes it sound like they’re talking a more old-school approach to the product, likely with a few modern add-one like the statistics they brought up.

I want stories beyond guy claims to be best in the world 1 vs guys who claims to be best in the world 2. I want WWE style with competence. This is an alternative not meant for me, not a substitution Than watch the WWE? The whole idea is to NOT BE THE WWE most people complained about that when TNA took on that WWE lite style. That kind of the point of when your telling everyone that you want to change wrestling. There idea is to attach those who stop watching the WWE because they are tired of the same old stuff that the WWE been doing. You should be excited for the fact that it is another company on a major network that is backed by guys with deeper pockets than Vince. You may not know most of the talent and that's a good thing IMO because this is away to discover new favorites. We honestly don't know what we are getting until we see it. These guys are a mix of a lot of things while workrate is going to be a key difference. How they do feuds and angles is going to be another. Watch there youtube show being Elite just one, you see that these guys are not always 100% serious. I think we are going to get a good mix but the in ring product will be quality. Having a roster full of EX WWE guys is great because look what happened to TNA when they did it? Not good end result. This however, it giving a bunch of talent a chance to become a star without having to do the WWE game which seeing all the stuff about how unhappy talent is, this is a good thing that as a wrestler there are alternatives to make it in wrestling and make a good living. They have there over the top stuff, Hell look up Sonny Kiss if you don't believe me.

I don’t care for workrate. I want storylines. I want over the top. That's literally ALL Being The Elite is, is storylines. So.....yeah, this isn't a valid thing. Watch before you criticize.

Well, yeah, but that's STUPID storyline wacky shit, remember. People want wacky over-the-topness, that's also grounded in reality and relatable. It's a f***ing Krusty The Klown focus group situation.

I mildly care. But it hasn't exactly proven itself to be 'the greatest wrestling federation since sliced bread' QUITE YET. (Realistically speaking, the time & day that it will eventually air on TNT will go along way into deciding how successful it will be.)

I mean, both the Nightmare Family Channel and BTE have been about building stories as well as hyping up soe of the talent and who they are. Also, while I get people being sick of/not liking the Bullet Club it was a nicely done story that used 2 feds and a web series to bring eyes to the product.
And people talking about not liking the product being more sports related. THat could literally just be saying wins and losses matter. Like let's say Jericho loses to Kenny at DoN, it could be as simple as him saying he wants a chance to be the first AEW champ and the angle being "you lost, you don't have a claim" That can lead to more emotion and more feuds

It probably won’t live up to the hype that people(read: not the promotion itself) has thrust upon it, and it may even turn out to be a spectacular failure, but to think that it’s going to just be guys going out there and having 5 star matches for no real reason is to not be paying attention. Honestly that’s a large part of what the WWE goes for those days and we see how it’s working out for them.

I don’t. I check the threads here and there to see if something comes along that I really want to see, but there’s been nothing. I really don’t like the fact that only a handful of people that are involved are exclusive to the company. I like exclusivity. There’s still gonna be dozens of independent “super show’s” happening all over the world every weekend, with the same talent AEW will be using.

I find it funny seeing guys wearing AEW hoodies at conventions over here in UK when they have not done a single show yet. I will give them a chance but I'm not a fan of Cody or generic guys.

Also let me say that I get not liking any of the Elite. I can get being hesitant to give support when all you have to go by is 5 months of hype and youtube videos.

What I don't really care for are the weird takes that scream of not actually knowing any of what's going on. If you don't know or like the dudes that's fine, but if you're going to make a public note of doubting them at least know who they are and what they do. There's like maybe ten dudes out of the bunch who are coming out of ROH/New Japan here and they have such a varied mix of veterans, big names, and unknown gems waiting to be stars to fill out the rest of the card in a way that really has me interested, between seeing people I've been able to catch glimpses of and people who are entirely new presences that have me intrigued. It's not going to be a promotion for everyone, but malformed expectations of it being something it's not presenting itself to be aren't it. If All In is the general guideline for what AEW will we, we're going to see a very varied show with lots of different styles and forms of wrestling being presented, and we'll see both big matches and big stories. Almost every match on All In was an entirely different beast, and I expect we'll see the same vibe here.
