Honestly, I'm just ready for someone else to give it a shot at doing a big wrestling promotion.
I'm trying not to get myself wrapped up in the hype because there's still variables we don't know and they haven't done a show yet but it's like...I just want someone else to try. I love going to indies and watching them but someone trying something bigger should at least be supported a bit in the hopes of shaking up something. The business has needed it since WCW started going downhill.

Never have, never will. I've been beyond sick of the AEW worship since it was announced and I do not like many of the people involved.

Last night may have been good, but I followed the thread last night, and "somethings" turned me off to the product. Let's just say if things were said on the WWE section it would fly, but say it about an AEW show its either deemed an "act," or your told to stop.

Maybe my fandom has been fleeting for years. I just can’t get myself to care about AEW. It just feels like a Cody and his superkicking frat boy friends vanity project. I don’t care for workrate. I want storylines. I want over the top. I’m not asking for TNA 2.0 but who the hell are most of these guys? Would it hurt to sign a guy like Wade Barrett or Carlito. It just feels to ROH/NJPW for me to care. I hope they are successful. But yeah sign Ryback or something. The storytelling was the best part.

Here’s the thing, Braun’s heel turn killed my love for all of pro wrestling, I haven’t even watched an indy match since. I’m nervous about the AEW product and returning to something I once loved but now despise.

My interest in Wrestling as a whole has pretty much declined over the years.. I still follow what's going on in the WWE etc but don't go out my way to watch it like I use too. Had this whole AEW thing happened about 6 years ago I probably would have been more excited about it.. That said I do like some of the ideas I'm hearing about it like the Win/Loss system. It's a brand new show so there is bound to be a few teething problems at the start..I'll certainly follow it but probably wont go out my way to watch it. If anything it's the war between AEW and WWE fanboys I am dreading.. For whatever reason there seems to be this thing that if you like one then you have to hate the other. Same. Not sure the reason. I realized that I dont remember anything wrestling wise or have passion for the angles the way I did 2003-2010 wwe/tna/roh. The past 9 years are "I know I watched most of the content..." but couldn't tell you who was champ, when or why. Last night my buddy told me he ordered DoN, I didn't even think about ordering or finding a stream. I don't mean "didn't want to", I mean just now I realized my brain, subconsciously, didn't even make it a consideration. Fandom waning aside, I don't like the elite, I think the name reeks of "take that, dad!", between the flipping off tweet and the destroying a hhh chair, sounds cringey AF. "Wah this company paid me hundreds of thousands for a few years but didn't give me the character i want, I'm gonna hold on to this entitled resentment and bleed it into my next project". * * yes, wwe sounds like a toxic shithole. But, you're out.you have a company. You won. Grow up. Move on. Youre a grown ass man flipping off a former employee, it's not cute.

Never have, never will. I've been beyond sick of the AEW worship since it was announced and I do not like many of the people involved. It’s not worship. While you may not like those involved many here are big fans of them. For many here it goes deeper. When I grew up there were many options for awesome major wrestling. WWF, Mid South, NWA and WCCW were all major players I could watch. That evolved and became WWF/WCW and was joined by ECW. There were multiple options for guys trying to make it. If one company screwed up you could always watch another and talent not utilized had choices. Now we are down to one company that hasn’t been “good” in a while and the entire business in NA has become stake. The Elite have built up a following by doing many of the things we asked for (character development, different story telling, good in ring work) and have made a name outside of the WWE umbrella. Their efforts have helped others gain notice from others. For many of us it is like watching the underdog home team actually succeed and trying to change the business. AEW has been nothing but an overwhelming success and last night was an overwhelming win for those who have watched these guys since they started in PWG as “spot monkeys” years ago. It isn’t worship in any sense. Just a very positive thing for those of us watching and following. You are mistaking excitement for worship. If you don’t like them that is fine but you have to also understand how eager many are for the US to have a second viable major company again.

Not much different. But give it a shot at least, whats the worst that can happen?

Why stop watching everything else when they don’t screw up booking that badly? You’re right but it’s just that something snapped after that happened, a love I had for more than twenty years dissipated. That’s fair, it happens to everyone at some point or another, I’d wager; you feel some burnout on a hobby, your hopes get high for something in it, then they’re dashed, and it’s hard to work that excitement back. It’s like having a favorite team that sucks for awhile; they make some big moves one offseason, you get hyped, but the season starts and they suck again, anyway, just makes it all the harder to watch.

Otherwise your life will have its standard bore by the mediocre that finish first as you let them shut down life's experiences one by one.

It wasn’t like that at all, really. Wow. I see now how wrong my friends report was, thank you for enlightening me! Nothing about the Elite is “take that dad.” The Elite name is based on them being “Elite” or the best in wrestling. Kind of like a modern day four horsemen. The Sledgehammer thing last night was a minor part of the entrance that was never mentioned again. It felt more symbolic of breaking through the ceiling in wrestling than anything else. Also fit in with Cody overcoming his brothers shadow. The show was more about how talented the AEW roster is and focused on talent wanting to be the champion. It was storyline driven but simply told. The approach was simplistic but effective. You should give it a chance and watch rather than forming opinions based on second hand information. You may still not like it but I feel you might have the wrong impression of what The Elite are trying to present. Nothing wrong with not liking their product though.

When AEW is getting talked about in "can do no wrong" tones in damn near every thread in the WWE section, that goes beyond excitement and into worship. And they're not an overwhelming success when they've run, what, two shows and haven't even made it onto TV yet? They're an upstart feeding off of anti-WWE resentment. How long are they going to be able to sustain themselves on that before they have to move on and try to stand on their own merit? My guess is not very long at all.

It Reeeeeeks of indy upstart/ 10 yr old boy to me. I've laughed at the name since launch. Thank you for the positive neutral reply, I'll probably give it a go down the line when results are forgotten and I finish this One Piece rewatch (on episode 56/880+ :X) Edit. Esp the chair. My friend straight up lied and said it was during the match (hey, matt!)

Even if I didn't care about AEW, I'd want them to succeed. That goes the same for most wrestling companies, even those I've never seen a match from. There needs to be more places for wrestlers to make a good living. Wrestling has been under a near monopoly for over fifteen years. It's time to break it up a bit.
