There have been some great surprises in wwe history (Rollins turning on the shield, Ambrose’s turn, Cena’s rumble win, Takers streak ending). But what about surprises that we’re complete shit and completely unnessesary? Brock winning MITB is the most recent example

Kalisto as Kurt Angle's big acquisition for the cruiserweight division. I have no idea what they were thinking. Kalisto coming out and doing his shitty lucha lucha hand raise thing while the crowd farts all over it was hysterical.

I'd put Cena in the 2008 Rumble in there as a worst surprise. I think a lot of people were looking forward to some time away from him and then the music hit.

Rey Mysterio as #30 in the 2014 Royal Rumble.
There's no way anyone besides Vince thought the crowd would accept anyone but Daniel Bryan in that spot.

Baron Corbin as Kurt Angle's WM opponent. If it wasn't hyped up as some big surprise, I think it would've gone over a little better.

There was a Raw where they spent the whole show hyping up Miz finding a mystery partner and the main event happened and Miz's partner was...nobody.

"All I have I say is that our partner is going to shock the world...."
(I know it's not really WWE Current, but how could I resist in a topic like this?)

I remember in 2008 Kane was carrying around that bag and they were teasing the idea of him bringing back his old look.
Up to the point where he said "in the bag is a mask... but it's not mine" and he pulled out Rey Mysterio's mask. I was a young Kane mark who missed his old school mask, so I was quite disappointed. At least that angle gave us the hilarious "IS HE ALIVE. OR IS HE DEAD"

ADR turning on Ricardo. Was pretty needless and killed both of their careers pretty fully.

Speaking of mystery partners, I think Braun’s tag team partner at mania being a child is one I remember watching that Mania and when I realized that the tag title match was going to be the semi-main event I figured they might be holding back somebody who would have been an actual surprise. Nicholas was, well, underwhelming. I'm sure it was a cool moment for him and I dont want to take away from that, but that was not what I was hoping to see as a fan.
