30 years ago today, Tim Burton’s Batman premiered. And honestly it still holds up in my eyes.

The NES game based on it is pretty cool, too.

The NES game based on it is pretty cool, too. I remember when Return of the Joker came out, I was peeved that there wasn't a film of it.

Is today technically the anniversary, or are we waiting until June 23rd (which was the full release)?
Either way say this
SON OF A BITCH
makes a connection with us
AND
with Axis Chemicals what kind of damage..... are we looking at?

Enjoyed it when I saw it opening weekend. But now I just don't care for it. Still it was a huge blockbuster that started the modern comic movie boom. And thanks to this movie I could get some great Batman shirts in every store. Still got my Bolland Joker that came out around the time of the film. Now just gotta lose enough weight for it to fit me again lol.

went to my first midnight screening and saw it and then a further three times, pirated the home video release, a good old fashioned rollocker with probably the world trailer in existence ironically but then it did have TWO outstanding soundtracks (both on tape), bought the tshirt, bought the graphic novel tie in (no, alexander knox isn't the bat you fools ) and yes there WERE complaints that it was too dark then too! should have never took your bloody glasses of then

It is legitimate! I saw it.....I was there.....I saw it all. He reached up, with his dead hand, and signed it in his own blood. And he did it with this pen.
Hello, Vinnie. It's your Uncle Bingo. Time to pay the check.
Not gonna lie. This is one of those movies that comes right back to me so easily. Start a sentence, you can recite 5 more. <3

It will always hold a place in my heart like it does for a lot of people, but I can take off the rose tinted glasses to see the bad along with the good about it. It's by no means a perfect movie, or even a perfect Batman movie. There's definitely some of Burton's lack of familiarity with the source material that shows through and just some of the generally strange quirks and ticks he has as a director that seep into a lot of his work.
It's like that person that may not be necessarily the best person in the world, but is so darn charming and charismatic that you're able to overlook and forgive a lot of their flaws.
Which is more than I can say for some Batman adaptations.

Always loved Burton's rationale that he cast Jack Palance because he was the only actor who could credibly give orders to Jack Nicholson.
