Love Black Adam but I agree, not a solo film kind of guy. Think the film could have worked if they cut the JSA out completely, even if they were the best part about it, and at least allowed for some kind of weakness for Teth Adam. Allowed for fewer actions scenes to create actual character development. Have the villain to have some kind of character and interesting aspects. Film just fails on so many levels. The movie really couldn’t decide on whether Adam is an true anti-hero or one in name only.

I’m finally watching this. I have to say… I don’t hate it. The Rock definitely isn’t showing his usual charisma… but I think that’s based on him basically being a prehistoric character. I can see why the budget was so high. There is a TON of CGI. Overall, though, I’m liking the movie.

And now I’m disappointed the post credits scene is t going to lead to anything. It’s probably for the best for DC overall, but still….

The post credits scene should have featured Black Adam travelling through a portal and when he emerges, Thor is standing in front of him. Thor nods, and Black Adam raises his eyebrow.
Loud noise and....CUT TO A BLACK SCREEN.

To be fair to Black Adam (don't get used to it), that seems to be a problem with a lot of comic book movies nowadays. Venom kills maybe four people on-screen in two movies, Morbius literally opens his movie winning the Nobel prize, and they've all but confirmed that Kraven THE HUNTER is going to be a wildlife preservationist. For an industry that hates white meat babyfaces, they seem genuinely scared of doing a straight up villain protagonist. The only thing Black Adam has going for him is that "heroes don't kill people" thing, which is just... have they seen the rest of the DCEU?

There's an increasingly loud portion of social media that think maybe Vin Diesel wasn't the problem but the Rock was on their F&F spat and questioning his motives and ego. Hot take is Rock took over Brendan Fraser's career and had him banished from Hollywood. With regards to Vin Diesel. that’s probably from his camp let’s be honest lol. Having said that, I wouldn’t be surprised if part of it was the Rock thinking he’s too big a star (read: Diva) to be put up with any delays . That whole report about him, Vin Diesel and Statham having it into their contracts not to lose fights/take equal damage kinda showed that the Rock isn’t as gee humble friendly as he’d like everyone to believe Watched the film tonight and enjoyed it well enough. Dunno if I’d go out my way to watch it again though Reeks of insecurity. Arnold Schwarzenegger got told by James Cameron that 150lbs Robert Patrick's T-1000 character is physically stronger and more dense than the T-800, so no, he cannot over-head press him on camera even if Arnold does curls at 150lbs in real life. Job done by the Director and macho bullshit shutdown.

Still love how Black Adam commercials are playing where Rock sounds so humble and is saying shit like "Black Adam means so much to me" Meanwhile he and his team are trying to cook books, call the film a financial success when it wasn't and it wasn't even close, and oh also trying to big league the Shazam franchise by refusing to cameo in the sequel film, and now unfollowing DC and WBD socials because you know for the first time in your life, you're taking a really massive L and you don't know how to handle it Seriously Rock has shown some true colors here, and none of them are pretty The Rock played football for the University of Miami during the time when they were the "Convicts" in the Catholics vs. Convicts rivalry with Notre Dame. That, coupled with his persona in the WWE (which I know is staged... but as they say, the best gimmicks are the ones that are themselves turned up to 11), I don't see why ANYONE would be shocked that The Rock isn't the "golly gee whilikers" guy that some of the media portrays him as. I'm sure he's a good guy, but he's also got a "sh*t talking" alpha male side to him as well.

And if you are such an "alpha male" that you cannot act like someone smaller than you is a threat than you have no place in the acting business. Good on Cameron and good on Arnold.

Don't see this as some big "gotcha moment" from Rock
We already saw how he acted when Baywatch flopped. For all his success he is due going to def have a little ego. Still a good dude but he just backed the wrong horse and it bit him in the ass

Because I have no life, I've been reading a bit about the Black Adam character on Comic Vine. I don't know anything about him, but this movie has got me a bit curious and now I want to come up with my own version of a Black Adam movie that I'm sure would be just as bad if not worse.. Thinking about maybe having Black Adam fight the Crime Syndicate as the main villains. Just Who would be the best choice for the main villain I wonder.

Assuming the reported total advertising cost of $80-100 million is accurate, that puts the total theatrical loss in the region of $160 million.
For comparison, Justice League's theatrical run lost the studio $100 million.

I mean, I guess I'm glad Rock got to make the movie if only because of how long he was attached to the damn project, but yeah, probably not much juice you can squeeze out of the character in a solo film.
Now I wonder how long until Rock is in MCU.

Now I wonder how long until Rock is in MCU. He's definitely angling for it. And after three theatrical bombs in a row, he desperately needs a hit. The question is whether Feige will tolerate Rock's ego. His next movie has him sharing top billing with Chris Evans, so maybe Evans will put in a good word with Feige for him.

Now I wonder how long until Rock is in MCU. Still don’t think it happens. Rock’s ..very driven in his Hollywood endeavors. Part of that is having control, sometimes extraneously, and that even proves true in the times he’s come back to WWE. Marvel don’t play. As evidenced by directors they’ve cut ties with when everything isn’t copacetic. Could it happen? Yea but I find it highly unlikely. Also, who’d he play?
