80s Sitcoms gave zero f***s. "Maybe we should talk about drugs." "Maybe we should have the entire family kidnapped and brutally tortured for three straight episodes.... with a laugh track!" “And now... a very special episode of...”

M*A*S*H had a few of these, but the Dream episode was probably the most disturbing in terms of imagery. Christ, now I’ve got the image of Hawkeye yelling “it wasn’t a chicken” in my head. Can I get your mailing address so I know where to send my psychiatry bill to?

The caffeine pills being treated like heroin is fantastic.
And DJ on Full House starving herself and collapsing. And the kid getting beat at home.

The episode in Home Improvement where Randy worried he had cancer and it ended up being a thyroid issue. Thyroid issues run in my family and it did nothing to help my own teenage paranoia heh.

In a episode of Brooklyn 99 an off duty Terry get’s racially profiled in a dark street by a uniformed police officer. With current events I actually got worried that the cop was going to pull out his gun and shoot Terry.

Speaking of Diff’rent Strokes, despite being a loving father who took in and adopted two black boys, does anyone else think that there were several times, when Phillip Drummond came across as an arrogant, pompous, rich douche?

Time to copy and paste this beauty again...
An episode of One Foot in the Grave called Who Will Buy?
Margaret delivers flowers to the wrong address in a rough area and it’s a sweet blind old man who lives alone. He asks her to read out some letters that were sent to him by his Children and grandchildren in Australia. The letters are actually junk leaflets but Margaret doesn’t want to hurt his feelings so she tells a white lie and makes up a letter and tells it to him. Later in the episode you find out the old man’s house was broken into and he was murdered. He had drawn his life savings from the bank to buy brand new locks for his house but upon hearing the “letter” from his grandkids, he spent that money on toys that he was going to send them for Christmas.

Or another from One Foot in the Grave
Victor and his group of friends are stranded in the countryside. Victor goes off in search of help and stumbles across an old people’s home. He discovers that the Staff are systematically abusing the old people there by drugging them to ensure an easy shift, locking “troublemakers” in an unlit closet or just plain beating them. Victor is disgusted and rallies the old folks there. He confronts the Manager and the old folks drug her and all the other staff too. He makes an anonymous call to the Police and leaves the old people there to explain their treatment to the authorities. The next morning the authorities arrive and are shocked at the abuse and neglect but not a single member of Staff can be found anywhere. The Police drive away and the camera pans out to reveal the Staff all had their feet put in quick-drying cement, were covered in hoods and were placed in the field nearby to act as scarecrows.

Can I get your mailing address so I know where to send my psychiatry bill to? I think he's talking about the one where the staff was overworked and delirious and every time they got a chance to take a quick nap they'd have some sort of war-related nightmare, regardless of how innocent the dream may start. As a kid, the part with Hawkeye getting his limbs removed then floating in a lake with limbs all around him, gave me nightmares every single time.

Remember when Ole Anderson kidnapped Danny Cooksey? That guy even sounds like he's cutting a promo "You step out of line, and on June 22nd at the Omni, I will kill your parents"

Mixed up my mentally scarring MASH episodes, been a while since I watched it.
