Or another from One Foot in the Grave Victor and his group of friends are stranded in the countryside. Victor goes off in search of help and stumbles across an old people’s home. He discovers that the Staff are systematically abusing the old people there by drugging them to ensure an easy shift, locking “troublemakers” in an unlit closet or just plain beating them. Victor is disgusted and rallies the old folks there. He confronts the Manager and the old folks drug her and all the other staff too. He makes an anonymous call to the Police and leaves the old people there to explain their treatment to the authorities. The next morning the authorities arrive and are shocked at the abuse and neglect but not a single member of Staff can be found anywhere. The Police drive away and the camera pans out to reveal the Staff all had their feet put in quick-drying cement, were covered in hoods and were placed in the field nearby to act as scarecrows. JESUS CHRIST. Isn't this show a comedy?? Yep, an extremely dark one that frequently got the BBC complaints (although that was more due to several animals being killed in the show). Didn’t stop almost a third of the population tuning in for certain episodes though.

I had totally forgotten about the MASH episode with the 'dead chicken'. That's a doozy. Then there's the one where Charles becomes obsessed with death after nearly getting killed himself, and goes to an aid station at the front to get a better understanding of it.

Not enough talk about Mr. Belvedere. Cue laugh track. No seriously, there's a laugh track to that and it's rough to hear. Also, the counselor episode.

Remember when Ole Anderson kidnapped Danny Cooksey? That guy even sounds like he's cutting a promo "You step out of line, and on June 22nd at the Omni, I will kill your parents" "Strong words from Ole there Gordon. Strong, bewildering, blood curdling words"

Fresh Prince, California Dreams and City Guys all having episodes dealing with racism, FP even had 2, the one where Will and Carlton get pulled up and jailed after getting lost while driving Uncle Phil's legal partner's car and the other being Carlton being treated like Geoffrey by the frat leader for being from a rich family
The latter two dealt with black lead characters dating white girls with prejudicial parents, on CD Tony's girlfriend's father tries to give him money for the Dreams if he'll stop dating her which he turns down and calls him out on while on CG Jamal and his prom date have to pretend she's going with Chris as he has a problem with 'them' until he's shown up at the prom by the visuals of both Al and Dawn and Cassidy and L Train being there together as well as other biracial couples

Seeing the N-word spray painted on a locker with Steve Urkel standing like two feet away was jarring as all hell. Damn. I had completely forgotten about that and the second I read your post it vividly came to mind. “Jarring” is the right word to use. I was ridiculously young and it was my first introduction to the word and the meaning. It especially floored me because my first best friend in kindergarten was black. Damn..that is crazy to recall lol

Wasn't there a Family Matters episode where Eddie got harassed by some racist cop and Carl had to confront his fellow officer about it? It was an early one, might've been pre-Urkel.

So back in the mid-90's, little Rave was a fan of a kid-centric sort-of sitcom/dramedy mystery show named Ghostwriter. Pretty standard kid fare, from what I remember of it, at least until... ...little Rave was traumatized and quickly stopped watching Ghostwriter. While looking for an appropriate image to highlight a source of my childhood trauma, I found out that the arc where this little bastard, who is named Gooey Gus, appeared was actually the last one made for the show. It's rather hilarious to me now that something that scared the crap out of many a child ended up being the thing the show wrapped up on.

I just remembered a couple of City Guys episodes that had similar plots, but had the roles reversed, even though one of them I COULD try to argue with. They both have to do with sexual harassment, but let me start with the one that I would argue, that if I were to do a blog that reviews episodes (Let me get my hands on them first, and then I'll start it).
One episode had Chris, Jamal, and Dawn intern at a firm that Ms. Noble's former student works at. Said former student is a young woman, not to mention the daughter of the owner (or a high-level person), keep this in mind, as well as played by the lovely Lisa Pepper. So the businesswoman starts coming onto Chris and he is clearly uncomfortable about it. At some point, Ms. Noble confronts Chris about his "lack of work ethic," as the former student told the principal about it. See where this is going? She said that so that if Chris were to go along with it, she might put in a good word about it.
The problem with this is that with a lot of these sitcoms, it's often a teenager dealing with an adult like this, as well as the fact that the woman came onto a teenager (In reality, Lisa Pepper is only about a year or two older than Scott Whyte). So a woman in her 20s is coming onto a minor. Yes, this is not unheard of, but she was committing not just sexual harassment, but was also bordering on statutory rape.
Being that it was a guy character, usually in a situation like this the guy would go with it, especially if it was with an attractive woman. It's like how people discussed about Charlie Day and Jennifer Aniston in the Horrible Bosses movies. No straight guy would decline on Jennifer Aniston. Of course, there are guys who would turn it down and feel bothered by the advances of a woman, which was the plot of that episode and it is possible for guys to feel uncomfortable at the advances of a woman. Of course, I don't want to start a debate, so it can go either way.
Oh, but wait, there was the other episode, and this time the genders were reversed. Cassidy earned an opportunity to perform in a play. It turned out that the Broadway director was a sleaze, as he was instantly attracted to Cassidy to cast her. But Chris had witnessed the theater director coming onto another actress and then she quit, so he ended up giving Cassidy the part. He came onto her and you know the rest. Of course, I am not sure what the age of the director was supposed to be but it wasn't really relevant. The scene when Chris caught the director coming onto the former actress, I can see what it implied when she said "You can't make me do that." Also, later on, Cassidy came to Chris and said that the director wanted to "make out" with her, I am sure that if this were aimed towards adults, different terms would be used. Also, the episode was called "Cassidy Couch." I didn't quite get (as in understand) the title until sometime recently.

The Diff’rent Strokes two parter “The Bicycle Man” with Mr. Horton putting his moves on Arnold and Dudley. Yikes. If this wasn't the first response we'd have a problem. To this day those episodes are wild.

The episode in Seinfeld where they killed George's fiancee Susan off due to licking bad stamps and the cast reaction is basically "Let's go get grab some coffee." in a nonchalant way

Seeing the N-word spray painted on a locker with Steve Urkel standing like two feet away was jarring as all hell. Or the episode where some gang vandalizes Rachel's restaurant and the family and Carl/the cops are investigating and Harriet says something like "Who would do something like this?" and then you hear Eddie's voice go "I KNOW WHO" and he walks in all brutally beaten

King of the Hill. Pig-malion. Just......what the f*** was that all about? This is the one episode I can't wrap my head around. Like, even as bad as "King of the Hill" got in seasons 12 and 13, it still had one foot firmly in reality. But "Pigmalion" was just so out of leftfield that it feels like one of those episodes that exists only in rumor alone, like a "King of the Hill" version of the Squidward Creeypasta. It's unnecessarily dark and that's before we get to the mentally-ill business tycoon who may or may not have a bestiality fetish dressing up like a pig and getting slaughtered in front of Peggy and Luanne, who seem to shrug off his presumably gory death almost instantly. It touches on so many taboo issues - mental illness, controlling relationships, date rape, Oedipus complexes, incest (?) - but whiffs so poorly on every one of them that you're wondering how this episode passed through the chain of command without someone stepping in and saying, "Uh, guys, this one's not gonna work."

Yeah, it usually pops up on my Facebook feed a few times a year. The clip where Carl confronts the guy, not the whole episode.
