Diff'rent Strokes also had a two parter "The Hitchhikers" ...yeah There was also one where a bad guy takes Sam (who later played Budnick on Salute Your Shorts and was in Terminator 2. Sam protests and the guy tells him to be quiet or he’ll kill his whole family

All in the Family two-parter where Archie's female impersonator friend gets killed, leading to Edith having a faith crisis. ON CHRISTMAS. Because it's seasonal, it's usually been included on Antenna TV's Christmas marathons too. The episode of ALF with the giant space cockroach kept a seven year old BlackoutCreature awake at night for a couple of days after watching it. I'll see you that and raise you the ALF SERIES FINALE.

Dinosaurs finale. Everybody curls up in front of the TV to wait to die. In a f***ing Jim Henson show.

In the episode of "The Dealership" during the last season (I think) of Seinfeld: George eats Arby's and exclaims that it's good.

M*A*S*H had a few of these, but the Dream episode was probably the most disturbing in terms of imagery.

Friends had a surprisingly large amount of episodes revolving around incest. Ross finding his cousin attractive, Rachel's boyfriend Danny having a creepy relationship with his sister, Monica and Ross kissing each other at a high school party.

Diff'rent Strokes also had a two parter "The Hitchhikers" ...yeah Wait, wasn't there also an episode where a crazy family tried to kidnap Arnold's step Brother Sam? The creators of that show REALLY like traumatizing kids

Doctor Who - Earthshock
I never liked Adric but I never thought that would happen to him. And the silent end credits just hammered home the point of how effed up the whole thing was.

I know a lot of TNBC sitcoms had "very special episodes" that dealt with heavy topics, like the aforementioned Jessie/caffeine pill addiction episode (Which was rehashed in California Dreams with Tiffani taking steroids or in City Guys with Cassidy taking caffeine pills as well), or even an episode of One World with a female friend of the youngest boy smoking weed. However, City Guys had an episode that dealt with roofies. Yes, it went into the realm of sexual assault for a show that aired on Saturday mornings. Granted, those shows were aimed towards teens and kept it in a certain level, but that was pretty heavy even for a teen sitcom.

80s Sitcoms gave zero f***s.
"Maybe we should talk about drugs." "Maybe we should have the entire family kidnapped and brutally tortured for three straight episodes.... with a laugh track!"
