King of the Hill. Pig-malion. Just......what the f*** was that all about? This is the one episode I can't wrap my head around. Like, even as bad as "King of the Hill" got in seasons 12 and 13, it still had one foot firmly in reality. But "Pigmalion" was just so out of leftfield that it feels like one of those episodes that exists only in rumor alone, like a "King of the Hill" version of the Squidward Creeypasta. It's unnecessarily dark and that's before we get to the mentally-ill business tycoon who may or may not have a bestiality fetish dressing up like a pig and getting slaughtered in front of Peggy and Luanne, who seem to shrug off his presumably gory death almost instantly. It touches on so many taboo issues - mental illness, controlling relationships, date rape, Oedipus complexes, incest (?) - but whiffs so poorly on every one of them that you're wondering how this episode passed through the chain of command without someone stepping in and saying, "Uh, guys, this one's not gonna work." Peggy says something like "well Luanne, you finally learned to stand up for yourself" and they walk away smiling, LMAO.

The Andy Griffith Show episode where Ron Howard's character develops a crippling drug addiction
...in fact that's where the name opioid originally comes from

For some reason, the episode of Saved By The Bell where Zack hooks up with Lisa really bothered me.
Like, what the f*** dude? She's the girl your BEST FRIEND that does anything he can to help you out has been after for YEARS. Meanwhile, Zack can have pretty much any girl he wants. But no, instead of being a good wingman and teaching Screech how to win her over since he's smooth with the ladies, he takes her for himself.

How about the episode of "Too Close For Comfort" where Monroe is raped by two women and no one believes him or thinks he should be upset about it?

How about the episode of "Too Close For Comfort" where Monroe is raped by two women and no one believes him or thinks he should be upset about it? Actually, I distinctly remember that episode. Ted Knight's character actually believed him, was supportive of him, encouraged him to go to the police, and when the police were dismissive he went with Monroe to find his assailants. It was a surprisingly progressive response, to be honest.

JESUS CHRIST. Isn't this show a comedy?? Yep, an extremely dark one that frequently got the BBC complaints (although that was more due to several animals being killed in the show). Didn’t stop almost a third of the population tuning in for certain episodes though. What about the final episode? Victor gets killed in a hit and run, Margaret finds out the woman she just befriended was the driver and it ends ambiguously if Margaret killed her or not.

There’s another episode in that final series when they’re dreading a visit to the annoyingly happy Ronnie and Mildred. And then they get the news that Mildred hung herself during a card game.

That episode of the Simpsons where Homer gets a gun. In today's world, it is rather disturbing. Sure, it's pretty funny episode, but even back then, it was pretty disturbing to see how Homer used that gun. In today's world, it's pretty hard to watch.

When Barney Rubble gets a job as a repo man and has to repossess Fred's TV. Which in turn put a huge strain on their friendship.

The Favts of Life episode where one of the girls was nearly raped. And on that note, the episode of Too Close for Comfort where Monroe actually was raped. I dont think you could ever use that topic as a sitcom premise now. Drama? Sure, but not a show who's main intention is to get people to laugh (even though the subject matter itself was handled seriously).

All in the Family two-parter where Archie's female impersonator friend gets killed, leading to Edith having a faith crisis. ON CHRISTMAS. Because it's seasonal, it's usually been included on Antenna TV's Christmas marathons too. Dont forget the episode where someone paints a swastika on the Bunker's door. The ending, where the Jewish vigilante gets blown up by a car bomb, is one of the darkest endings of any tv show, and that includes Blackadder Goes Forth.

Fresh Prince, California Dreams and City Guys all having episodes dealing with racism, FP even had 2, the one where Will and Carlton get pulled up and jailed after getting lost while driving Uncle Phil's legal partner's car and the other being Carlton being treated like Geoffrey by the frat leader for being from a rich family "It's a Wonderful Lie" from Season 5 is one that starts off funny & silly but progressively gets more serious as the episode goes on. It has the big laugh when Will finds out Ashley was at the same college frat party as him, then the episode realizes all the stuff attached to "Wait, a teenage high-schooler was getting 'nice and fresh' with a college man..."

I don't know how disturbing they are, but the episode of Saved By The Bell where Zack treated the girl in the wheelchair like she was mentally challenged.
And speaking of mentally challenged, The Facts of Life episode with the cute but slow delivery guy who liked Blair. Not only do they call him retarded a few times, but Blair thinks she can fix him.

Well if we're gonna nominate Facts of Life episodes, then submitted for your approval is the Twilight Zone spoof episode where the girls are trapped in their house on a dark and stormy night being stalked a murderer. I think we can all agree that that was George Clooney's finest hour as an actor, and he has done nothing of any interest since.
