I'm still not feeling anything or anyone in this division. I was enjoying Jamie Hayter (LOVE her offense), but she hasn't been around for a bit. Unsigned I'm assuming?

I’m honestly okay with either winning and expect an awesome match. Yeah, I don't get the criticism. Shida/Riho was great and Statlender is one of the more intriguing signees with a pretty damn cool moveset and flow so I'm looking forward to this. Statlander literally just caried Britt Baker to a passable match this week, and gave Bea her best match too. I think it's safe to say she's a good wrestler. A downright steal for what she's able to do with a death finisher. Some people are just being harsh because her gimmick is out there and some people just don't like goofy gimmicks, but it makes her stand out, and the women need to stand out more.

Yuka is on the roster page but outside of a few winter dates is locked up with TJPW.

Idk what Yuka is doing, feels like AEW can't get her due to the Japan dates

^That finisher of hers scares the bejessus out of me. Funny though hecause she has her arms around the legs and that probably gives way more protection to the head cause she can yank them up as she drives down, in the same vein the Package Pikedriver looks horrific, it's probably safer than a regular Tombstone but looks worse.

^That finisher of hers scares the bejessus out of me. Yeah, it's confused me because it's a pretty safe move to deliver assuming everyone involved is a good height to take/deliver it, the recipient just needs to tuck their chin in and let their lower neck/shoulders take the brunt of the impact, but Priestly and Baker both seemed to take it on their heads, or at least it seemed on camera. Makes me wonder why that is.

Riho is the the reigning, defending, undefeated, undisputed champion. She is a prizefighter who should only show up for big matches.

She's not undefeated, but then again, she hasn't lost since becoming champion, and I don't think she's lost any singles matches, so she's got one of the more impressive records so far even given her absence. I wish she were around more, but she's nearing her third title defense, which is not so bad. Does feel like she's been gone longer than she actually has been, though.

I don't need a month when it comes to her gimmick. Touching people's nose to communicate or whatever just doesn't do it for me personally. If she gets loses some ( not all ) of the Alien shtick she might be a little more enjoyable to watch in the ring. Why do you want her to be bland and boring, though? I never said anything about wanting her to be bland and boring. I even said if she loses SOME of the shtick it would make her more enjoyable imo. Her character is too over the top for me. But if that's your thing then that's great and hopefully she'll continue to entertain you and the rest of the audience she reaches. She would definitely be an upgrade as champ over Riho, that's for sure.

I think all the AEW champs have had around the same amount of defenses so far. Riho's just in the middle of another Japanese stint right now but it's not like she's Brock Lesnar either.

Riho's absence is a case of AEW not really knowing how to feature talent not on TV making it seem like they are gone longer than they are. A bit more savvy company in this regard would have ran pre-taped interviews or vignettes about Riho while she was gone, or even acknowledged her as taking the banner of AEW's Women's division overseas and representing AEW in Japan.

Riho is probably the most talented wrestler on the roster imo but the issue with her being champ is a microcosm of AEW’s problem with just thinking part timers like Yuka or say, T-Hawk can pop in despite having companies and schedules that take priority. They need to invest strongly in regular talent so when outsiders come it feels special.

Amazing Kong should kill Riho and quickly transition the title to someone else. Riho can fight the big fights without championship later.
