SoCal Uncensored (the website, not the AEW Tag Team Champions) said sources within Bar Wrestling told them they would have allowed Statlander to appear for AEW next week, but she wanted to honour her original booking. I mean, that is refreshing, really. Shouldn’t have happened in terms of putting this match together but the amount of people who’ve backed out of booked shows because of bigger pay days is too high to count. Calling it bush league, though? Come on, man. That’s just throwing a term around setting out to make it meaningless.

In the grand scheme of things, I find it hard to care about this. The match will just happen the next week and they're giving us a second title match. I've grown up with WWE just not doing advertised matches on a weekly basis so at least they explained it and will do it at some point.

Probably shouldn't have booked it if they knew ahead of time, but good on them for letting a talent honour a commitment even if it meant taking the L.

Randos posting on message boards knew as early as November 30 that Statlander was booked for NYD, why didn't AEW? At some point AEW are going to have to be bad guys if they want to be perceived as big-league, and part of that means not tolerating stuff like this. I don't know whose fault this communication breakdown was but this absolutely can't keep happening. I don't care about, "Well, WWE advertised this and..." whataboutism, either. If AEW wants to present themselves as a better alternative then they need to be held to higher standards than, "Is it much dumber than the worst WWE advertising practices?"

I mean...they apologized for it and made good. If we’re comparing it to WWE then...that is a make good when WWE barely does that. It was a mistake, they made good and hopefully won’t happen again. There doesn’t need to be a “bad guy” in this discussion and it doesn’t need to be any kind of massive deal. EDIT: and aren’t you the same guy who made a massive deal of a segment that wasn’t even a segment but something people would have to dig around in?

They couldve just said that Kris was unavailable due to Brandi stabbing her eye with her shoe(I know it would make Brandi look strong thus pissing off people but wouldve been a better excuse). I know I just decried "carny bullshit" two posts ago, but seriously, having a double in Statlander's outfit laying on the locker room floor with her back to the camera and Awesome Kong standing over her would be preferable to, "Our #1 contender has a prior commitment that takes priority over a title shot on a nationally televised wrestling program and can't make it." This post should be put in bronze and hung on the doorway leading into this forum.

Basically, hard to take stuff seriously when it mostly feels hyperbolic.

Shoe seems to fit in both cases.
I'm hard on AEW precisely because I'm rooting for it and because I won't support WWE.

Tbh I think its a good move by AEW from PR standpoint after the news of HHH wanting to "kill the indies"

Well wouldn’t it be better to support them and hope they don’t repeat mistakes they’ve made? Like, it’s not great but they seemed to have dealt with it well so far and if it keeps happening, then it’s a problem. Calling them out right now for it like it’s the worst thing ever just seems weird.

It looks bad on Statlander for not letting them know sooner and bad on AEW for not knowing at all.
If she gets injured then what happens on the 8th?

Looks like a certain alien forgot to flip her daily planner calendar to 2020!
So, Riho pins Shida again on Jan 1, huh?

I'm less annoyed than I was, given Bar Wrestling being very grateful. It comes across more now as AEW being accommodating than lax, but this does definitely sound like a rookie mistake by Kris that hopefully she learns from. Looks like a certain alien forgot to flip her daily planner calendar to 2020! So, Riho pins Shida again on Jan 1, huh? Don't see why, given Britt has settled into job girl status. I wouldn't go quite that far, but of the four women in that match, Britt is who I'd expect to take the fall. Keeps Shida versus Riho down the line more interesting, and it contributes to Nyla's anger if she's losing the match without getting pinned or submitted. Britt is definitely not going to get another title shot at Riho within the next few months, we've seen it and seen nothing to suggest a second match's outcome would be different, so she's the right woman to be pinned.

I feel Britt will take the pin in order to continue her story of choking when it matters.

Guys, it's not that big of a deal; AEW are a promotion in their early days, why in the hell are we expecting them to be perfect right out of the gate??
Also, what is Statlander meant to do? Just not appear at a show that she was booked for? What if she cancelled that booking to go to AEW? What would the reaction be, then?

I wanted to say this, but I didn't want to break any forum rules. Like, this is a shit situation, but it's not the end of the world like he's claiming.
