I just wish WWE weren't assholes and put NXT on the same night as AEW, because it's legitimately made the wrestling fandom so unbearabe when there has been such great wrestling going on on BOTH shows. It's a perfect example of no matter what you do, you don't win, it's really off-putting. How exactly were WWE assholes in this situation? I never understood this notion when it came NXT Vs AEW. They were the ones on Wednesday nights first and them going live on wednesdays was already seemingly in motion because they were negotiating with FOX and USA to air the show and USA seemingly were already testing the waters with the NXT special episode they aired prior as everyone already knew they were losing SD to FOX.

Twitter wresting fans are assholes. Yup, Twitter fans in general (of any product) seem to be (mostly) assholes. It's a safe rule of thumb.

I honestly don't know of a fanbase that seems to relish in being negative about what they claim to be a fan of than wrestling fans. There's no pleasing some people. Trust me, comics fans are just as bad. And Sci-fi fans (especially Star Wars and Star Trek as of late), those fandoms can be extremely toxic. True story, I stopped posting on a certain popular comic book forum recently. Every time I said a storyline wasn't that bad I received an essay-length post telling me why my opinion was shit.

Some people just don't like wrestling that doesn't fit their narrow definition of what wrestling is. Aew makes one tiny mistake and all of a sudden they are bush league.

But if they were actually going to play their cards in a manner that maximizes the ratings for NXT, they should have moved NXT to Tuesday night the very same week of the FOX premiere. That way, anyone instinctively tuning into USA for Smackdown on the week of the change goes right into NXT. Instead, they went the sabotage route, and even did that weird couple of weeks where they were split between USA and the WWE Network, because getting on TV before Dynamite was that much of a priority.

Some people had absurd expectations, some WWE fans are fiercely defensive, and some of it is just impatience with growing pains. Pushback was inevitable, and will also likely level out with time.

It's been going on since Double or Nothing. It basically started with Cornette shitting on that show hard and his fanbase screaming into the void right after him. Ever since that show, on Facebook, the wrestling pages I'm on turned into cancerous cesspools of just shitting on AEW hard for anything possible. Twitter got real bad right around then too. Hell, when I talk to people about wrestling here in town, it generally turns into a fight if they want to talk about WWE and you tell them you're only watching AEW now so you're not really interested.
People wonder why I'm in such a bad mood about the AEW criticism and it's because it's basically all anyone is interested in everywhere I go online or off. No one wants to discuss who is going to beat Jericho, how PAC is going to be booked moving forward, who the next big debut might be or whatever. It's just the same shit over and over and it's mindnumbing. I'd like to be able to talk about the show more, because it's time slot really sucks for me. Any other night of the week would have been better for me than Wednesday's since I can never be home to see it.
Someone mentioned AEW is the most praised show and cited the ratings thread, I'd have to point out that NXT consistently has been higher rated in said threads and receives almost no criticism at all for any errors it has made. I think the few NXT has received as of late have mostly revolved around NXT UK which is really its own thing.

One of my favourite parts of comic discussion is constantly being told that I can't judge comics I don't like because I don't read enough bad comics to accept that bad pacing, tedious decompression and unlikeable characters are the norm... As bad as the wrestling fandom can be, at least I've never had that sort if thing happen here.

I can't speak to your personal experiences, but on this forum specifically you're mistaken if you think AEW gets anywhere near the level of shit thrown at it as the WWE. And that's not a bad thing, but it is a thing. The reception AEW has had on this forum since its inception is as close as you're ever going to get to universal acclaim on a forum about anything.

Correct, and a similar group of posters will jump in and defend AEW in any thread that criticism is brought up as if it’s a personal affront to criticize the WWE alternative. I’m digging AEW and the WWE shows too (especially NXT) but it seems most people have “picked sides” and will argue for one and against the other. I guess it’s somewhat human nature to choose sides but that can get a bit annoying.

I specifically cited someone mentioning the show ratings threads to show comparisons between AEW Dynamite and NXT. I have no idea why you needed to divert what I was talking about to the subject of WWE in general gets more shit than AEW other than it is the only thing that fits the narrative you want to post about I guess. And one only needs to read about five threads to know AEW is not receiving "universal acclaim" in any regard.

AEW’s not exclusive with that. In fact, I’d say any fandom is bound to have this (Even though you mostly hear STAR WARS & wrestling yelled about) because any fandom requires passion. So, you’re bound to run into the shadier parts of that. *shrug* I try to tune out what comes off like white noise.

I think the difference between AEW and the WWE at this point is AEW still get the benefit of the doubt from people while the WWE don't. AEW are young and the people behind the scenes seriously seem to be listening and trying to fix their missteps, while the WWE have spent 20 years burning the fans over and over and over and over and over until they're not just ashes, but a thin layer of vitrified glass, because it's being booked for an audience of one with no signs of it ever changing course. The WWE forum is also far more heavily trafficked due to it's larger audience so you have more people who've been burnt every monday and friday night reacting to what they've seen.
I don't think the AEW defenders here are that bad if I'm honest, I've levelled plenty of criticisms and haven't fallen foul of any angry mobs yet.

AEW "defenders" here arent here defender but big fans. Like I guess I would be on the more positive side and I will often critique and speak up against what I think is bad.But I will also speak up against what I think is not actually an issue but people try to pass as such.

More like the honeymoon period is over and people are judging it in a critical nature as opposed to loving everything they see because it is not WWE
