This logic seems to be what I seen a ton of on all social media. The damn if they do or damn if they don't is perfect way how a lot of people look at AEW. Like for example I've seen it "Well AEW roster is a bunch of indie guys. They need more star power." Same guy on a rumor of AEW interest in lets say Luke Harper "Haha, AEW going after WWE rejects." It's a weird mindset like wrestling fans want something different from the WWE. AEW does that and now they say AEW needs to be more LIKE the WWE. It's like which one is it? I'm not actually seeing how that's a difference from WWE at all? This Trent thing is basically the same, "Let's shove a super bland guy in with a bunch of actual names and try to make them look like a threat," push Cedric Alexander was getting last year until they gave up and had him lose to AJ over and over and I thought that sucked too. Trent is not bland tho.He has show personality in ring even if not many backstage segments. Not gonna say he has the biggest personality but he at least has something going.

And the situation with Cedric feels very different from Darby's in AEW. Cedric isn't being hyped the same way on WWE television, and All Elite doesn't yet have a bad track record of stop-start underdog booking with younger talent. I'm really interested in where Allin will be on the card in January 2021.

Cody needed the win more.
That said, Darby needs a big win soon.

I feel the nail was hit on the head about how WWE being so ingrained in the minds of wrestling fans, that it affects how they view the booking of other companies. They all get judged on the shitshow that has been WWE Creative for the past 15 years. AEW is still in the establishing phase of their existence, with a focus on a tier system for the roster. Darby will be fine because he's gone from a complete unknown to cult hero in no time. The only thing he really needs is a feud.

He would be world champion by now if he had a poker gimmick. He deals cards before the match begins and during the bout he constantly cheats to win. And with every victory he adds the souls of the vanquished to his creepy chip collection.

Yea, I get what is being said and Darby has looked good in defeat but let's not forget AEW is about wins and losses. Looking good in defeat is a nice feel good term and on his ledger he has lost 3 big matches. Does that make him a joke artist? No, of course not but you play a dangerous game when you put him in these spots and not really have him pick up a win.
Imo if he gets another match with any of those 3 down the road, he has to win. Show that he's learning and "getting there" as opposed to being a tough little son of a bitch who takes that "hard fought L".
Let's not get lost in the sauce, W's and L's count. So he may have fought hard but he lost. The payoff at some point needs to show that he is learning and not just that scrappy fighter but actually someone improving on the job

Darby is one of those guys who will benefit once a midcard title is introduced.
