his son died i think and HHH got him a job in DSW and the original idea before Jessie and Festus was Jessie to Team up with Godwinn Russo lasted a week as he didn't want to work under Stephanie, hadnt watched wwe since he left and his ideas of restarting the invasion, Rock to come out as Bisexual, bringing in Bischoff, Bret Hart were laughed at...And i think he still had the issues with Hogan as well Wait....whaaaaaat?? ive to find the article, because he had a tonne of bizzare ideas, that was one of them...there were more of them and Vince told him that its not going to work out and released him

Wasn’t Macho Man going to be the mystery partner for Rocky Maivia’s team at the 96 Survivor Series? I seem to remember that rumor floating around. Jake Roberts replaced Mark Henry on Rocky's team. I believe Savage was rumored to be on the team with Savio Vega, Yokozuna, and Flash Funk. Their fourth guy ended up being Jimmy Snuka. Ah, I got the matches mixed up. I remember Snuka was a disappointing fourth man lol.

Wasn't the Rock supposed to return long before 2011, but Triple H or someone screwed with his contract?

The character of Papa Shango had two nixed returns. One in 1994 as the reason why Bob Backlund went crazy and another in 1997 as the explanation for Kane being alive. I remember reading somewhere he was also supposed to come back during the Undertaker/Booker feud in I want to say 04?

Godwinn wasn't a flashback as such. Godwinn had supposedly fallen on hard times, and HHH used a bit of pull to get him a tryout. He was beyond bad, by all accounts. I always heard Godwin signed a developmental deal and was sent to DSW. Along with all the other rehires from the same time period that were already mentioned like Flash Funk and Gangrel. Yep Godwin was in DSW teaming with his nephew Jesse Godwin (Rey Gordy) then due to injury/plan Festus replaced him on the main roster when the Godwins got called up. This was also around the time where WWE would team a veteran with a young guy in developmental as a team and then wanted to replace them with another young guy in a man roster debut. Almost happened with MNM as Joey Mercury was supposed to be replaced by Chris Cage I believe but Cage got injured

That explains the vignette where Booker met "Mama Sangria" or something like that. She was likely a replacement for Shango.

Sounds entertaining, shame we didn't get it.

During one of Hulk Hogan's contract negotiations with WCW in like 97 or 98, Vince and him essentially 'made an offer' to just bump his pay in WCW.
It seemed about every 3 months in 2002 - 2005, Sid was rumored to return.

Vader Sid King Mabel Mankind Goldust I'd mark out. After Cena is done with Jericho at Summerslam, he gets Edge at Unforgiven, then Goldust at No Mercy, Angle at Survivor Series, King Mabel at Armaggedon, Vader at the Royal Rumble, Sid at No Way out and Mankind at Wrestlemania 22. Edge cashes in on Cena at Wrestlemania after Mankind brutalizes Cena.

Those were SmackDown! exclusive PPVs back then, and Cena was on RAW. He could have faced all 3 in the Elimination Chamber at New Year's Revolution 2006.

Thought of another one. According to Don Callis, he and Rick Martel were supposed to team as The Models in 1997. But then something happened, Martel went to WCW, and Callis became The Jackyl.

IIRC they lowballed Martel on the contract after Callis had signed his, and WCW offered... well, WCW money, so Martel went there instead.

I remember a lot of rumors in the late 90s about Demolition returning.

In 98/99, if you read the internet news EVERYONE was jumping to WCW, WWF and lesser extent ECW. Just rumors nothing concrete. Started as soon as XPac showed up on RAW after his move back to WWF. My fav rumor I remember was Abdullah the Butcher to WWF in 98.
