Gangrel was supposed to be in the new ECW with Kevin Thorn and Ariel. He was re-signed and everything, it just never happened and he was in developmental for the whole time. Ric Flair in 99. It was to the point where he was literally driving around in the parking lot as they were waiting to hear back from some lawyers This was in 1998. According to Bruce Prichard Flair was supposed to return at Unforgiven 98. As someone else mentioned Flair was circling the parking lot waiting on the word to enter the building. Cornette has also confirmed it, and apparently said was the one on the phone with Ric...

I wish to see those Russo 2002 plans, right freakin' now! Watch his TNA stuff. I'm sure he recycled those ideas whenever he could. Repeatedly.

Wasn't the Rock supposed to return long before 2011, but Triple H or someone screwed with his contract? In 2005, WWE just let Rock's contract expire without ever talking to him about it. Yep, the reason Rock had zero interest in coming back for so long is that he'd blocked out a bunch of time between filming projects to negotiate a new contract, got zero contact from WWE until after it ran out, then Johnny Ace apparently sent him a total lowball offer without actually speaking to him.

During one of Hulk Hogan's contract negotiations with WCW in like 97 or 98, Vince and him essentially 'made an offer' to just bump his pay in WCW. It seemed about every 3 months in 2002 - 2005, Sid was rumored to return. Wait, is that why Hogan's 1998 contract was so stupid he could have made the Forbes list on it?

In 98/99, if you read the internet news EVERYONE was jumping to WCW, WWF and lesser extent ECW. Just rumors nothing concrete. Started as soon as XPac showed up on RAW after his move back to WWF. My fav rumor I remember was Abdullah the Butcher to WWF in 98. Abdullah was heavily rumoured to be Shawn Michael's replacement at No Way Out 98 but instead we got Savio Vega... Yeah Abdullah would of been cooler, plus he had history with Cactus Jack and Terry Funk.

Mortis(in purple) in 2003 I remember them teasing this randomly in an issue of SD magazine and I had never seen or heard of him before because I started watching after WCW so I was confused who this Mortal Kombat looking guy they were talking about was lol

WWE had "WrestleMania Goes Hollywood" that year and never asked him to be a part of it, even with the obvious crossover of him being in WWE and a movie star. That pretty much shut down their relationship for a long time. They were probably banking on his career faltering and him asking to return, which didn't happen. WWE was stubborn and didn't ask him to get involved with anything until 2008 - and at that point he was willing to show up because they were inducting his father and his grandfather at the same time.

I think his first appearance on WWE TV after 2004 was that promo he did on Raw for the Lashley/Umaga WM 23 match.

Flair had already returned to WCW TV a few weeks before Unforgiven 98 though. Unforgiven was in April that year, right when the Flair/WCW legal sags began. Flair returned to WCW tv shortly before Breakdown, which was that year's September PPV. So the story is plausible enough, just come down to if you believe Flair, Cornette, et al.

H needs to accept the fact he will never be a bigger actor or wrestler than Rock ever was.

Seems they REALLY stank out the joint during their trial match. I really wished this surfaced as a "hidden gem" on the network. They wouldn't be throwing stiff shots at Drew now...

Triple H in particular seems to have huge resentment with guys like the Rock and Batista who actually made it in Hollywood judging by him suggesting they run Rock's contract out and basically telling Batista to his face Guardians would flop. Probably a little jealous the highest profile role he obtained was as a random goon in the worst Blade movie.
