We're considering Welles a one hit wonder due to Kane? The Magnificent Ambersons is also well regarded, he was in The Third Man, Touch of Evil, etc. Actually Kane wasn't even a hit. If we want to discuss his only major commercial hit that would be The Stranger, where he directed and also played a Nazi war criminal being chased by Edward G. Robinson.
How have we gotten this far without a mention of George Lazenby? While On Her Majesty's Secret Service wasn't as big of a hit as the Connery films it still did quite well and he could have come back to the Bond role but he didn't bother. I can't think of much else he did other than a joke bit in The Kentucky Fried Movie.

I want to say Luc Besson. The Fifth Element is a classic, but afaik none of his other movies were big hits or classics. Léon (aka The Professional), La Femme Nikita and The Big Blue are all highly thought of In addition, the Taxi franchise is considered one of the most successful movie franchises in French history, and Lucy was a big hit at the box office.

Outside of 'Napoleon Dynamite', did Jon Heder do anything of note?

What about the 'I'm the Captain Now" guy from 'Captain Phillips'?
I think he was even Oscar nominated.

What the hell us y'all criteria for one hit because some of these are wrong "The only one I personally remember" seems to be a qualifier. Same as it ever was when it comes to one-hit discussions. Bands, actors, etc. Personally? I want to see a thread like this for painters and the like. Those artists who made one single canvas painting known the entire world and are known for nothing else.

I remember about 20 years ago there was a sketch show (possibly on MTV, maybe it was "Mad TV," possibly animated, I don't recall) in which Darius Rucker goes to buy beer. The cashier says something to the effect of "Oh my god, you're Hootie!" He insists he's Darius Rucker, that Hootie is just the band's name. This goes back and forth for some time, until he pulls out his ID, the ID says his name, so the cashier says something like, "Wait, no, you're not Hootie."
Anyway, long story short, Paul Hogan is Crocodile Dundee. Even the movies where he's not explicitly playing Crocodile Dundee, he's playing Crocodile Dundee. His character in "Flipper" might as well have been named "Dolphin Dundee." That's the definition of a one-hit wonder.

Guessing you are referring to Jerry Maguire. But he also starred in Boyz N The Hood, also a supporting role in As Good As It Gets

George Wendt, can you name any notable role he had besides Norm? He was great in King of the Ants.

Loved it as a kid, but tried watching it again not long ago and...it really hasn't aged well. The stereotyping isn't as WTF as some, but it's just so constant.

Going purely on Hollywood success, a lot of people involved in The Artist might qualify.

Heck, because of unfortunate circumstances, he can't even live on in pop culture fame, as The Simpsons had to change the joke where Homer stole his suporting actor trophy to stealing Don Ameche's.

That's not correct. Not only did he have a massive hit with the first, but he followed it up with a second massive hit sequel. In the meantime, My Girl was also a huge success, and The Good Son was a modest hit. After that, it all went off the rails, but Culkin is by no means a one-hit wonder. Richie Rich was a hit.

Actually it bombed at the box office, although it more then made up for it on home video.

It wasn't, though. It had a budget of right at $40 million and it made $39 million at the box office (and that doesn't include advertising budget).
