George Wendt, can you name any notable role he had besides Norm? His name drop in one of my favourite Animaniacs skits. I guess it’s odd an 11 or 12 year old knows who George Wendt was, but I did. Do you like beans?

For the record Cimino actually wrecked United Artists, not Columbia, in 1980 with Heaven's Gate. It's wild but an online film buff friend of mine (the late Allan Fish, look his reviews up on the net if you want) insisted that Heaven's Gate was this unrecognized masterpiece superior to The Deer Hunter, but I have never had the courage to seek out the director's cut to find out. It is 216 minutes long!
Michael J. Fox was somewhere in the top 15 box office stars every year from 1985-91 according to the Quigley poll. He was 4th in 1985 (Back to the Future, duh), 11th in 1986, 3rd in '87 (Secret of My Success), 14th in '88, 6th in 1989, 11th in '90, and 13th in 1991.
Speaking of that era I noticed Steven Seagal did have one year where he was a top 10 box office star (1992). Under Siege was really his only true mainstream hit, as in something casual moviegoers outside of action flick diehards might go see. Chuck Norris hit the top 10 once as well in 1985, but he was #22 for several years in the 80s. If you want the peak of action movie wackiness 1985 is your year, with Stallone, Schwarzenegger, and Norris all in the top 10 box office attractions. Also add in the likes of Eastwood and Ford, who certainly were action movie actors as well.

Another one that came to mind is Danny Lloyd from The Shining.

Sam J. Jones comes to mind, Flash Gordon and pretty much done apart from appearing as himself for Flash Gordon references.

Brad Renfro. Yeah, he did other movies, but he'll always be the kid from "The Client."
As far as Jerry Maguire goes, Jonathan Lipnicki went nowhere. Again, yes...he popped up here and there, but he'll always be "that Jerry Maguire kid."
Haley Joel Osment did Forrest Gump, the tv show, Thunder Alley, The Sixth Sense, obviously, A.I., the Entourage movie, and just showed up on What We Do in the Shadows. Dude isn't a one hitter.

Stuart Little might keep Lipnicki from being a one hit wonder

I've never seen it so I don't know how large the part was, but I know it was a big hit at the time. But otherwise, after that his filmography is basically 90% movies that have no Wikipedia pages, or Flash Gordon jokes.

I recently saw Sam J. Jones in an episode of Stargate SG-1 where he was a bounty hunter that took the team hostage. That was from 1999 or so.

I feel like a better question would be who are people that were part of a big hit and then you were shocked didn't become an A List person for whatever reason or have just been type casted.
Orlando Bloom I would not call a one hit wonder, but whenever he tried to step out of the Pirates/LOTR roles they were not well received.
And same with Sam Worthington. Yes he was in other movies, but I don't think he ever caught on like many thought after Avatar (I remember him being considered for the next Bond)

Orson Welles did Citizen Kane which goes on to be one of the biggest influential films ever made, however he only won an oscar for writing the film and thats it. He won nothing for acting, he makes other films but none to the standard of Kane, and eventually he becomes a regular panelist on tv shows and does commercials so he can fund his next film that he usually never finishes. He did to Transformers the movie though.

Josh Trank (though maybe calling Chronicle a hit is pushing things)

Taylor Lautner disappeared after the Twilight movies. He wishes he took the Zac Efron path. And Sam Jones was hilarious in Ted.

Taylor Lautner disappeared after the Twilight movies. He starred in that terrible action film Abduction which did make money but... yeah that was in hte middle of the twilight movies... and as stated was terrible.

Peter Weller. Robocop was his commercial peak as a lead actor.

Peter Weller. Robocop was his commercial peak as a lead actor. The Hong Kong Cavaliers would disagree with this assessment.

Adriana Caselotti was the voice of Snow White, then did a one-line voiceover in The Wizard of Oz and had an uncredited role in It's a Wonderful Life as a singer. So, she starred in one of the most influential movies of all-time, her only other two credits were also in classics and she's practically unknown.
