Just like the last time (There's nothing new here, really) the allegation that Person A coerced Person B into sleeping with them by threatening to leave them if they didn't is, frankly, deeply deeply unlikely cut through. As far as AEW is concerned the matter is probably settled unless A) anything more concrete materializes or B) the allegations are of a nature that could spark a criminal investigation.

Just going back to when this was first brought up: Apparently a year ago Darby showed Khan numerous text messages that cleared him of this. It's why when they initially came out he returned to TV soon afterward. So whatever he had was solid enough that he and AEW moved on.
In the end... I don't think anything about this is ever going to be proven one way or the other. It just seemed like a bad relationship all around. One it seems Darby has grown from if other people are to be believed that he has been with. As for Hawliee? I hope she gets the help she needs... because it sounds like she needs it off of what others close to her have also said about her.

(not embedding due to swear) Darby Allin's accuser QTed the allegation, which has restarted discussion towards Darby Allin on Twitter today. EDIT: Also with a DM exchange with Priscilla Kelly/Gigi Dolan, which makes Priscilla look awful. Can't speak for the validity of this. But apparently a year ago Darby showed Khan numerous text messages that cleared him of this. It's why when they intitially came out he returned to TV soon afterward. So whatever he had was solid enough that he and AEW moved on. I also can't speak for Kelly's DM's but apparently this isn't the first time this twitter user has been lying and manipulative to get her way if this tweet is anything to go by: Nah, that's really not it. You don't use language like "lying and manipulative to get [their] way" when discussing allegations of psychological abuse. You should absolutely just leave it at the first paragraph. The evidence speaks for itself and has until now been scant. There's no need for anyone here really to pass judgement on the character of the accuser. I get that internet forums are a place for discussion but with topics like this it's really best that we don't talk about it beyond basic comment unless there are actual developments or we're just going to devolve into shitty relationship analysis like the that stupid Matt Riddle thread.

Honestly, the best thing for AEW to do right now is address this in a statement of some kind. If they did investigate it, say you did and say what happened. It’s going to keep coming up and being quiet about it isn’t great even if there isn’t much to the allegations.
There’s not even a need to go into painstaking detail about it, just be up front and say what happened with that and what you’re going to do going forward.

I'd say that if this was WWE, Darby would have been hurled off Titan Tower's roof with a trebuchet, buuuut...
I'll leave this in the hands of Tony, and the police if it's valid or not. I'm not playing judge and jury here. Not even as a joke.

That's fair. And I wasn't showing that to try and belittle the accuser. I was saying it in a way that it sounded like she herself needed help and was burning bridges with a lot of people with other past actions. Not to say nothing happened or may have happened with Darby in the past. But yeah as said in paragraph one. Darby had a defense for himself. He showed Tony Khan texts that seemed to validate his side of the story... and that was that. Unless something new or substantial comes out... I don't see this going anywhere. And Priscilla Kelly being defensive about someone saying her then husband sexually assaulted someone sending an emotionally charged DM to said accuser imo doesn't really move the needle one way or the other... the only thing you can hope for is Darby and Hawliee especially can find some sort of peace and closure in the end. And wrestling fans can be assholes... especially on Twitter. I think we can all agree to that one.

I don’t want to touch on this one to much. I’ve already known this from last year. I’ve already kind separated the character from the person when it comes to Darby. I can’t defend him for anything, as I’ve been in a horrible toxic relationship with emotional abuse that screwed me up pretty badly, so screw 20 year old Darby, hopefully he isn’t like that now and has grown.

But then AEW are going to be cast as "not listening to victims". I've been sexual assaulted and I've been in toxic relationships where I've been threatened "if you don't have sex with me I'm leaving". I don't rank the two on the same scale. Both are wrong, but one is a dick move, the other is a crime. Darby was a shitty boyfriend, and is probably a shitty person. But to compare his being a shitty 20-something that, let's face in the skate culture he comes from toxicity like their relationship comes a dime a dozen, to the acts of David Starr and Joey Ryan? Nah that's bullshit.

We have to live in a society that presumes everyone is innocent until proven guilty. Otherwise, metaphorical witch hunts are going to abound.
That all being said, if Darby has a smoking gun that he's shown Tony Khan that puts all of this to rest, then a simple statement with just enough clarifying details would suffice. Otherwise, the radio silence is a bad look.

Something tells me they or Darby might soon. Darby is way too important and integral to AEW to have any sort of black cloud hanging over his head. He's one of the top draws of the company. And moreover is a huge role model/hero type for the younger AEW Audience. Essentially if Darby's been validated on his side of the story, I'd say something. Because while you don't wanna call a lot of attention to it, you don't want it to spiral out of control and turn into something that it's not.

Maybe I'm missing something, but the whole "he showed Tony some texts so he's clear" thing always weirded me out, since that bit seemed to completely make everyone drop it.
Not saying the dudes guilty of doing all this stuff or whatever, it's not my place to judge nor would I want to. But that always rubbed me the wrong way.

This is such a settled issue from so long ago, that I don't think AEW really needs to issue a statement and turn it into an issue. At least right now, googling Darby Allin doesn't even bring up anything referencing this story.
As I said in my previous post, I think Hawlee's thoughts and feelings are valid and should not be downplayed. Darby may well be a shitty human being. And, maybe it's the defense attorney in me speaking, but there are always two sides to these stories and Darby has, apparently, satisfactorily provided the other side one time already to his employer. It's dangerous territory to start expecting people to be punished for being in shitty relationships in their early 20s.

There certainly wasn't ever a public statement from AEW and/or Allin of that. The source that claimed Allin sent those messages to Tony Khan was a Patreon called "Everything Elite," which I don't think would even pass our own forum's rules if we were to post news from their platform.

From what I remember didn't it come out that AEW investigated and determined no other actions were necessary.
Sounds like it was a relationship that brought the worst put of both parties. Dunno if Darby did anything or not but whatever happened between the two messed up Hawley so hopefully she can find piece one way or the other I hope she finds peace

Otherwise, the radio silence is a bad look. The legal system is obliged to treat all as innocent until proven guilty. The court of public opinion is under no such obligation because they're not in the position to judge whether someone deserves to lose their freedom or not. This is also why juries in cases involving serious criminal charges are sequestered away so they can't be influenced by the court of public opinion, but only by what's presented in the courtroom.

AEW could make a statement or they can just leave it go knowing Darby has cleared himself. Like the most you can say was Darby had a shitty relationship which he was definitely a cause of it being shitty years ago. Outside of that there doesn't really seem to be much else outside of statements of the such and he said/she said arguments. AEW either issues a statement or simply lets it go. If Darby's been cleared they might just leave it go. Wouldn't blame them either.

The reason I said to try and put out a statement, really, is to be upfront about how you conduct these sorts of investigations. They did it with Havoc and Guevara and I know Darby's accusations don't compare but it's also much better to show how that is rather than be silent about it and make people think you're ignoring it regardless because of where Darby is in your plans.
Like, not to compare it to WWE, but WWE does not need to address most of their SO stuff because, well, it's not going to affect them as much. Scalia and Devlin are on the D-at-best brand of WWE TV. The shareholders are reluctantly dealing with the Saudi stuff (with the occasional settlement here and there), and it's not going to affect their income. That's not to say this stuff is going to hurt AEW but this and the Justin Roberts stuff (which is a bit more serious than this, has to be said) can erode goodwill from the people who hear about it so it'd be better to try and show how you're dealing with them or even if they've been dealt at all. Along with that, you as a company have something to fall back on if they come up again because with how the internet and social media works, they will.
