Matt Tremont has extended an open invite to any CHIKARA Pro students to welcome/train at his training school, the H2O Wrestling Academy Good on Tremont and in this environment he is one of the few people I would trust to train people now a days. So this looks like the end of Chikara one of the pillars of independent wrestling post 2000. It was already a shell of its former self realistically but now for sure its going to be gone.

What many have been expecting: PWInsider is reporting an announcement of CHIKARA shutting down officially is "forthcoming" and Quackenbush is also resigning as head trainer of the WrestleFactory, which more than likely, is also shutting down anyway.

Never would have thought the last match of CHIKARA would be won by The Whisper of all people but hey here we are.
Also very appropriate tha CHIKARA's last match was CHIKARA getting their asses kicked by The Crucible and then The Crucible imploding on its own so... yeah, storyline was accomplished one way or another
My cousin wrestled for CHIKARA, I went to to a lot of live shows from 2010=2013, it sucks, but if this is what was really going on, it needed to be done, and I hope the workers who are innocent and the trainees, can be picked up by good schools and promotions and continue to entertain.

Hope AEW or Impact takes a few of em honestly. AEW has quite a few CHIKARA veterans, could probably put in a good word for a few guys.

As someone who met Dasher and Tim at a local non-CHIKARA indy, and talked with them for hours, I can attest they are two good ones.

For what matters it seem like Tyler's and Shawn Spear's Wrestling School gets plenty of positives reviews on protecting students and ensuring woman are safe and have dedicated space/training.

Thing is, I look at the twitter for these younger wrestlers (Jaxson, Molly, Boomer, Still Life, Wells, Whisper, Faraday, Bird/Bee, Hawks, Callux, etc etc etc) and I buy it. Like, I really do believe they're honest about wrestling being this positive community for them, and they're horrified it turned out to have an underbelly.
Maybe I'm gullible for thinking that, I dunno. But it really doesn't just seem like a sunk cost thing. It's certainly not true that young people can't be predators or exploiters, but there's maybe a glimmer of hope their wrestling companies will legit be different.

People are already wanting wrestlers like Hallowicked in AEW Everybody in the company has pretty much mentioned "BOOK HALLOWICKED, YOU COWARDS!" in their tweets. I wholeheartedly agree.

If they take anyone from CHIKARA that's out there now, the top of the list for me is Hallowicked and Dasher. Ophidian would be good too since they already have Serpentico. But Wicked has been one of the most unsung ring generals of the last like two decades, he would be a great open challenge call for the TNT Title.

This... this hurts. I've been a Chikara fan since the shutdown angle back in 2013 (whether the shutdown was legit or not is neither here nor there) and I ordered my first DVDs from them that same year. Late last year, I finally completed my collection of their 2010 shows. I admit to not being high on the product since 2016 and tuning out almost totally by 2018. But the company meant something to me and it sucks to find out all of this information. I just canceled my subscription to Chikaratopia, because it's not worth it.
I'm probably going to try and complete my wishlist of DVDs through SmartMark, as the company produced a lot of enjoyable shows. The man behind the company is an asshole, but that shouldn't diminish the enjoyment people got from watching the on-screen product.

I was gonna make the point that lots of Chikara stars aren't ready for something like AEW, but then I made a list and it's longer than I thought. Hallowicked, of course, but also Frightmare, Ophidian, Kim, Darling, Dasher, Boomer, Demorest, Blank, Makowski, Zero, maybe Huckabee and Deppen...
And also plenty of people who could get good with more training: McCoy, Cajun Crawdad, Devantes, Still Life, Nightingale, Faraday, Merlock, Frost... this actually seems like a thing over the years: wrestlers will seem to have potential but then get to a certain point and stop improving, like all three of the DevCorp, Hermit Crab, Vox, Missile Assault Man, the Hawks...
And then I thought, huh, maybe the reason Chikara has lots of stalled wrestlers is because they're HALF-TRAINED, so they'll keep shelling out for classes and also not go anywhere else. And.... yep that seems to really make a lot of sense, actually.

Hallowicked Dasher Ophidian Should be on the top of the list. I want the OG Throwbacks back. AEW is great with tag teams, and The Throwbacks were one of my favorites in the early 2010's Imagine if we saw Osirian Portal again too. But I think Amasis basically retired so idk. But yeah Dasher could come to AEW, wake Suge up, and they could start getting wins even. Hallowicked, Ophidian, Frightmare, there's just a good list of dudes that any company would love to have that felt like they were shackled to that company for way too long.
