So uh...does this mean we're allowed to talk openly about the characters behind the characters now?

I was gonna make the point that lots of Chikara stars aren't ready for something like AEW, but then I made a list and it's longer than I thought. Hallowicked, of course, but also Frightmare, Ophidian, Kim, Darling, Dasher, Boomer, Demorest, Blank, Makowski, Zero, maybe Huckabee and Deppen... And also plenty of people who could get good with more training: McCoy, Cajun Crawdad, Devantes, Still Life, Nightingale, Faraday, Merlock, Frost... this actually seems like a thing over the years: wrestlers will seem to have potential but then get to a certain point and stop improving, like all three of the DevCorp, Hermit Crab, Vox, Missile Assault Man, the Hawks... And then I thought, huh, maybe the reason Chikara has lots of stalled wrestlers is because they're HALF-TRAINED, so they'll keep shelling out for classes and also not go anywhere else. And.... yep that seems to really make a lot of sense, actually. Ophidian, Kim, and Deppen have been around the Indies a lot, Kim was on Impact recently as well, but yeah there's a lot of talent even from CHIKARA, and the whole "Quack only half trains his students so they don't get booked anywhere else and have to rely on him" was also a long standing rumor that might have gotten more merit. Like he kept them floating to keep them in CHIKARA. And almost exclusively CHIKARA. I hope some of them find landing spots, they deserve it, guys like Hallowicked, especially deserve it.

So uh...does this mean we're allowed to talk openly about the characters behind the characters now? You mean how the most successful wrestler to come out of the company might turn out to be Fire Ant for not being Fire Ant?

People will end up in various companies, but I hope maybe some people form something like CHIKARA, in its platonic form, served to be, a family-aimed wrestling company where people had fun angles and lore. Of course, with much more scrutiny and transparency than CHIKARA ultimately had, with a control freak creep who tried to keep everyone under his thumb.

They'd booked a lot of CHIKARA Talent before the pandemic, and their energy feels very close to that of CHIKARA. Hallowicked was one of their top booked wrestlers, and they even had Private Party on some shows before. twitter.com/ExcellencePW

AEW's getting a second show. I'd love to see them take the Chikara/Lucha Underground style of a lore-heavy wrestling show to the mainstream.

Them getting a second show at the very least means they'll be looking to sign more talent in the future That's a generous pool to consider, circumstances suck but you can help out some people possibly

Chikara had that combination I haven't seen anywhere else (again, except maybe for DDT) of ridiculousness that had thought put into it. New company for sure needs at least one woman in a top role, though. whoa, what?

If they signed a couple of Chikara vets that'd be an added bonus, but even without them a more absurd, cinematic kind of show is absolutely something AEW could excel at. Would people watch it? I think they probably would, and you could definitely attract new viewers with the kind of comedy popular these days. The most mainstream exposure AEW gets is when their more comedic aspects gain traction on reddit and twitter.

The end of an era.
Who knew a family friendly company was run by such a scummy person?

I hope someone makes a successor promotion with the spirit of CHIKARA without the rot at the top.

I can't say Berger never worked Chikara, but he certainly wasn't a regular part of the roster.

Who is Berger? Both in the sense of who is he now and "who the hell is Flip D. Berger??"
