Well, I'm done with the playoffs now that the Hurricanes have officially been eliminated.

4-2, Isles, right now.
But it looks like the Bruins are about the sent packing despite the goal they just scored.

Montreal obviously has a chance but man this feels like a massive mismatch on paper against Vegas.

Montreal obviously has a chance but man this feels like a massive mismatch on paper against Vegas. By far the best team they've faced so far. Winnipeg was without Schiefele for most of that series, who is a great deal of their offense. Everyone knows the Leafs' issues in the playoffs. Vegas is big, fast, skilled, deep. A lot depends on which MAF shows up and if Price can keep being a wall. If either of those go against Montreal, I could see them losing in 5. If not, they have a chance. It's really, really hard to play 1-0, 2-1 low scoring style hockey against Vegas witb their pressure all game.

I can't believe the Avalanche were eliminated. They looked amazing and so far above vegas in that first game where they smoked them I thought they were going to the finals. But as the series progressed I don't know what happened. Their big guns just didn't couldn't switch gears and their defense was giving away pucks like candy. And flower power Fleury was the much better goalie. When they lost in colorado I knew they were done. They fought last night but with the bad first goal and all the deflections it was just too late.

Both the Isles and Montreal have benefitted from the matchups they've gotten so far, to some extent; each had stretches of being outplayed/outshot pretty heavily, but were able to take advantage of things like some missing players (e.g. Schiefele for Winnipeg), or poor goaltending (Rask was playing through an injury for Boston), that sort of thing.
However, at the same time I'm starting to get a vibe like NY might actually beat Tampa, despite the Lightning being the on-paper favorites. Just a hunch, but the Islanders are deep in their roster construction and just seem like they're poised to take advantage of any mistakes an opponent makes.
Can't say I'm feeling the same for Montreal; I think Vegas is just too good. DeBoer has them playing the kind of system he had the 2012 Devils playing during their run to the Final, but with even more high-end talent in top positions, they're just relentless. But hey, stranger things have happened, and Price is on fire and that makes a lot more things possible.

But hey, stranger things have happened, and Price is on fire and that makes a lot more things possible. I don't think so at all for the Islanders. The only team from last round I think that would have beaten them is Colorado, and that's just not a match-up they would have under any circumstance. Montreal benefited greatly from not being in a division with Boston and Tampa which is pretty much the toughest route to the Cup entirely. Imagine Montreal overcoming all the odds to win the 1st round and then upset Tampa in the 2nd only to see NYI and Vegas in the back half of the playoffs. They'd likely be ground into powder by the end, but in actuality, they wouldn't have even made the playoffs in old divisional alignment. I think the Islanders and Lightning are the two best teams in the East. Tampa has better goaltending, but Islanders have a fantastic forecheck. Their roads haven't exactly been hard, but they're playing better than anybody outside of Vegas rn so reshuffling the deck wouldn't have done much. But it's all about who plays it out. Montreal has had an easy road, but that doesn't mean they can't surprise everyone and eek out another series or two. It's just gonna be really, really hard. The other 3 teams left are all deep, really strong teams.

Gerard Gallant named Head Coach of the New York Rangers. Not too shabby, Rangers. Not shabby at all!

Las Vegas Saints manage to not take a single penalty last night, despite several various obvious penalties.
Wonder who the NHL wants to win??

Bettman: *Scanners GIF* They still haven’t gotten over the Edmonton v. Carolina final. It was a ratings disaster for the US. They never marketed it as the first WHA final ever, which the moment had long since passed, but it was that.

I haven't forgotten.

Habs look half-asleep out there. Should be grateful it's only 1-1 after 2.
