Wrestling. All wrestling. Listen to me:
If you have a supernatural character, give them supernatural powers, and base their motivation in something supernatural. Just do that step. Because otherwise, it's just plainly a nerdy grown-up drama kid PRETENDING to be supernatural because he thinks it's bad-ass, and that is not interesting or cool.
And goddamn it, they just cannot help themselves, can they? They know fans hate it when big muscly schlubs are world-killers, they know there's this easily recreated narrative of the Body Guy And The Vanilla Midgets where everyone strongly roots for the latter, but the former always wins. Then they book it, over and over, and then are suprised when it doesn't get the reaction they want.

Enough depression booking already.
You have Roman winning via repetitive bullshit on SD, Lashley winning via mildly interesting bullshit on Raw, and Kross winning via outright boring bullshit on NXT, and on NXT UK Walter winning via the roster depth being bullshit.
The only face champ that actually comes to mind right now is Bianca, everything else makes WCW look face leaning.

-Kross had a cool entrance but sometimes his facial expressions don't match his gimmick. There are times he looks great and his moveset matches his character but then there are times he makes faces that just make him look like an average bald guy walking down the street. It's like he can't stay in character all the time and it hurts him. He just kept taking me out of the moment. My assumption is that he's supposed to be the big monster and he kind of is but there are moments where he looks too human and too normal and it just didn't work for me. I'll never forget his Bloodsport appearance against DH Smith where he came out looking built like a 90s Pancrase boy ready to f*** shit up, then the match started and he was smiling the whole time like he couldn't quite believe he was in a wrestling match. Also it was like the worst kinda Bloodsport match where half of it was just ground stuff and gentle forearms. DH Smith submitted him too lmao.

Speaking of Bloodsport, Kross actually calling out Dave Bautista for Bloodsport is hilarious to look back on, considering Kross ended up signing to WWE in a few months, making the whole thing redundant.

That's one thing I've noticed about Kross, outside of his elbow and Suplex, he doesn't hit hard. Like, I get it, you're not actually trying to hurt the other guy but he can tighten his strikes. You wanna see night and day, look at Stand & Deliver, WALTER vs Chiampa & Kross vs. Balor. WALTER is a mauler while Kross taps ya one.

It feels weird to criticize him for being safe but it does come across as strange due to his presentation.

My hot take: Scarlett's involvement as part of Kross's gimmick is holding him back. I used to think that she'd be a shoo-in factor for Kross being called up to the main roster, if only to split them up and to tack her to someone else. However, I don't see her as going much farther than she has. She's a Sable-bot with a Luna Vachon personality program embedded, so the cringe would be strong with her. Kross with an MMA-type gimmick is a monster run on the main roster on a collision course with Lesnar, then a decent midcard/upper card run from then on out. Kross as this hokey gladiator type barreling through the _entire_ top tier of NXT isn't doing either him or the brand any favours. I don't think it really does Scarlett any favours, either: Lilith characters that might have been popular during the Attitude Era aren't "fashionable" in 2021. Disagree re. Scarlett. The main roster crowds would eat that shit up. It's just an NXT crowd that it wont go over with. Get them both to the main roster, stat.

Something about this promo in particular has always stayed with me in that it got EVERYTHING right about this entire act...it was toneally pitch perfect which bleeds into something other Captain said the other night and it has kind of festered in my mind and that is....they humanized him and that might just be what has hurt his entire act the most.
It was a very simple to understand atleast for me concept...she is the herald that sets his course of action and he does anything for her.
But somewhere along the way idk if it was him , or anyone else in NXT they stripped the entire act down (specifically him) to being like anyone else that walks through NXT.
Again the above video is so pitch perfect...it has got this intriguiging element wrapped in absoloute terror of inevitability that has you wanting to see what they do next but someone somewhere said naw....lets focus on your love of combat instead and up the pseudo MMA part of you and do away with the intriguiging character you started with.

It was the first time I'd really seen him, cool entrance and then...just a guy. He's booked like Brock or Walter but without the "it" factor or force behind his moves to justify it. He's big but not the monster he's booked as.

Just watched the match and yeah, this dude's offense is lame as shit. Can't really see him getting over on the main roster either - remember, it's NXT that's the place where you've traditionally been able to get over with absolutely nothing but a cool entrance. Just look at how Bobby Roode did in Florida vs on the main roster touring circuit.

Kross should be a better fit on Raw, but I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he gets Aleister'd on the main roster. Scarlett will get pushed.

I’m all about a thread that’s 90% shitting all over Karrion Kross.
Probable favorite thread of the month.

Why do I get a sinking feeling that Vince is watching Karrion Kross and drooling at making him a super-Cena type?
