Everton in deep shit. They won't be relegated, but if they were, they'd be the biggest PL club ever to go down IMO. Bigger than Aston Villa? Leeds?

They’ve been in the top flight now for nearly 70 years straight, only (I think) Arsenal can better that. If you go by total points scored in all their seasons in the top league, only Liverpool and Arsenal have more and they’ve won the league more times than any other team who isn’t United, Arsenal and Liverpool. The only thing they didn’t win was the European Cup and if it wasn’t for Heysel and the ban on English clubs, they probably would’ve won it in 1986.

Of course Villa have won the European cup but as you said it’s very likely Everton would have in the late 80’s if there was no ban. I think because Everton are in Liverpool’s shadow it kind of diluted my thinking of that whereas Villa & Leeds are clearly the biggest sides in their Cities. I did see one banner up yesterday at Goodison saying ‘22 years of failure’ which I don’t think is fair considering they were a very good side under Moyes & almost reached the Champions League under Martinez as well. Of course they haven’t won anything since the 90’s but I think it’s only the last 5 or so years they haven’t really been reaching the potential that they should have. Awful investment hasn’t helped. They look pretty terrible at the moment but I think will have just enough to stay up.

Leeds weren’t bad yesterday just very wasteful in the final third.
A game we needed not to lose. After the high of last week against West Ham it has brought things back to earth with a bang.
It’s the hope that kills you.

As a Newcastle fan I kinda had the opposite feelings about yesterday. Absolutely massive result for us.

what a first match in the african cup of nations last 16 knockouts!
it was all burkina fasa with them scoring first, even when gabon was losing their frikking minds in the second half and down to ten men ... and the very last touch of the 90 minutes gabon equalised with a headed in own goal!
no more drama in extra time
THEN THE PENALTIES
and what drama in the penalties, went to sudden death and fasa missed one setting up gabon to win ... NOPE ... finally gabon missed twice and burkina fasa slotted home the eventual winner!

Nigeria surprisingly knocked out by Tunisia.
Spurs lose and Arsenal take advantage by…drawing at home to bottom of the table Burnley. Great stuff.
Spurs are my favourites to get top 4 right now with their games in hand but if they mess them up then I think Man U get 4th.

Stonewall penalty for Liverpool in the match against Cry……. Yeah, I can’t bring myself to finish typing that sentence. It was never a penalty. It was a shambolic refereeing display the whole match. Telling Olise to get up when he got dropped on his head while Jones was there telling Friend to blow the whistle. Even the Oxlade-Chamberlain goal should've been reviewed by VAR, since Firmino jumped for a header while offside and Tyrick Mitchell marked him and it left Ox wide open. Is that not interfering from offside position?

Watford have announced Claudio Ranieri as their next manager who will be fired in six months. I think you mean February, thus giving his replacement no chance to strengthen the squad. I was only a week out. Not bad.

Now looking for their 15th manager in 11 years under the Pozzo ownership. Insane.

it's never past anything ... but it continues senegal through with a 2-0 win over cape verde, although sadio mane might need checking out after a clash of heads with their goalkeeper morocco survived going one DOWN against malawi to win 2-1 also an in no way bigger than those ... st mirren won a home game for the first time in FOUR MONTHS, beating aberdeen by a single goal *a small celebration takes place*
