I'm surprised they kept K-Jah in GTA3, Scientist tried to sue Greensleeves records and Rockstar for the use of the album in the game. he didn't win like, and we still get half of one of the greatest albums of all time still in the game, but its just seems odd.

I predict that we'll soon find out that they took the opportunity to sneak bigfoot into San Andreas.

Playing GTA III for the first time in 18 years. I don’t remember the old controls, so having the new ones is moot for me.
My god is everyone a bad driver in this game. Ya cruise for 10 seconds and a car will just slam into you. I also forgot how fast the cars deteriorate, and I swear they blow up faster after catching fire than I remember.
The map was huge back in the day, but obviously is nothing these days. And thats ok. You can memorize the map in about 15 minutes of doing taxi fares, makes doing the missions much easier, especially the timed ones.
Put about 3 hours into III, tempted to start Vice City, but gonna have to hold off I think. I never played III after I got VC back in the day, I gotta figure Id feel the same way with the Definitives.

It's probably not helped by me doing a replay of GTA V, but my goodness, GTA III does not hold up at all.

I take it they didn't even improve going into a certain gang territory once you reach Staunton Island, right?

Man, I remember going to my friend's house for his 16th birthday, me I was 15. I walked in there and we didn't have a PS2 at my house but him, he had one and they were playing Vice City. I had never seen anything like that style of game before. It was my first open-world sandbox game. Later that year we got a PS2 and Xbox and yeah, I finally got to playing the GTAs. 3 isn't bad, I just never experienced it like others did. I'll have fun when I get back to it I'm sure. And San Andreas? That's my favorite GTA so yeah lol.

And stories about buying San Andreas, IV and V on release day. Good times. San Andreas is still my favourite GTA.

My experience with the PS2 games is that my stepbrother had GTA3 and I'd fiddle with it but I'd never really tried playing it until much later, Vice City I got really into and finished as a kid, while San Andreas I never developed a taste for as a kid but did as an adult only for playing it to fall off anyway since my 360 kind of got put in storage when I got the PS4. ... I had the Xbox version on the 360, not the shitty mobile port.
In general I've played 4 and 5 way more than I have the 3 games. Done many runthroughs of 4 - last one a few months ago - and 5 I've probably done four or five at this point. Think only beaten Lost & Damned maybe twice and know only beaten Gay Tony once, though.

^ In addition to some of the…let’s be charitable and say “charmingly wonky” way some of the models are, the rain in San Andreas seems to borked all to hell.

Oof. There's a lot that looks absolutely gorgeous in San Andreas, but my word that certainly isn't one of those things. I imagine there will be a patch or two to come.

I’ve seen a lot of clickbait GTA DEFINTIVE EDITION IS A LET DOWN/HORRIBLE/DISAPPOINTING user reviews on YouTube. No doubt there will be some bugs and glitches that need to be ironed out but I’m wondering it this is just typical knee jerk gaming community reaction videos if a remastered to a beloved game isn’t a 10/10 on launch.

Yeah, there's definitely things that need addressing, but they're far from horrible and a big improvement on the halfassed mobile ports. The jury is out as to whether they're improvements on the originals played on original hardware. I think at this point it's somewhat transparent that the games industry has shifted towards games being released in a late beta form and for the first month or two the customers are unofficial beta testers. It sucks, but it is what it is. All it'll end up doing is driving down day one sales.

I think it's especially flagrant for a remaster to have so many glaring issues, when development should really just be amounting to a fresh coat of paint on top of an already finished product. It's one thing for a project the size of GTA V to have some bugs, but these games already had the lion's share of the work done 20 years ago. That said, we do take the fact that patches are even a thing that can be done now for granted, as the GTA 3D Universe games certainly had some major bugs that I wish patches could have fixed. GTA III had the infamous Purple Nines glitch that made an entire subset of optional missions impossible to finish, and Vice City had a save point that would wreck save files, and a clothing pickup that was placed beyond an invisible barrier.

I've seen a lot of people going, "How do these look so bad when the originals looked so good?" and to be honest I don't especially care about graphics so never really a hindrance for me but I kind of always thought the GTA games looked like ass until 5.

It's one thing for a project the size of GTA V to have some bugs, but these games already had the lion's share of the work done 20 years ago. Strictly speaking, development never was as simple as a fresh coat of paint, as all three games were ported from the RenderWare engine into Unreal Engine 4, necessitating rebuilding huge chunks of each game from the ground up to be as close to the originals as possible. I would imagine that is where most of these bugs have crept in.
