An underrated one. How about Flair spending his last televised pick on Lita in the draft in 2002 and instead of acknowledging it as this massive shock deal, Vince buries Flair and women as a whole. While referring to one of the biggest risk takers in the whole company. Embarrassing I forgot that even happened, but goddamn...

I feel like we should have a thread for the other companies too...
ECW I am sure we can write a novel about, as I said earlier.
Baby Doll when she turned face, especially Jim Cornette's barbs directed at her.
Ric Flair. The Precious mannequin.
She became pretty much his on screen girlfriend (was his wife IRL) but the original idea for Big Mama...especially when Jimmy Valiant essentially pimps her out to Dusty.
Toni Adams gets her clothes torn by Tojo Yamamoto, spanked by someone (Billy Joe Travis?), etc.

Lita. Just every single thing they put Lita through in 2005 and 2006. I’m going to play devils advocate-sort of. The issues between her, Matt, and Edge had broken so publicly that there was no way to ignore it. And she had gone outside her relationship with Matt, so she most definitely came across in the poorer light for it. So turning her onscreen persona heel was sensible because the audience was going to be booing her regardless. That said, they did go to some unnecessary lengths to portray her as “loose” rather than as just a heel overall. And at the end of the day she and Edge did get a successful heel run out of it.

"I wanna have sex with your wife. That kinda.... beastiality sex!" Misogyny and racism in one promo. Thanks Kurt. He was saying he wanted to bang her doggystyle without saying that phrase on national television.

I mean that whole thing that people say about sexual stuff on TV, "How do I explain this to my kids". As a parent I would rather explain doggy style than bestiality.

Having a title called the Diva's Championship. They called the women that as a counterpart to the guys being called Superstars. Honestly, it's one of those things that makes perfect sense on paper, but was stupid in large part because "Superstars" is stupid.

Not condoning at all just giving context. As for the verbiage? I think a couple of old white men had a chuckle writing the line and it would make Kurt angle look like an awkward idiot. And I mean it did. It just wasn’t funny.

At the Wrestlemania 18 Fan Axxess they had a to scale bronze model made of Stacy Kieblers legs and bum. They interviewed her intercut with footage of fans taking photos with their hands all over it. The interview was as awkward as you would expect. Somewhat off topic, but I think that trophy was the PS2 Memory Card icon for 'Here Comes the Pain' It was also the trophy for Divas Undressed. Yes, I remembered that special despite it happening 20 years ago.

"Divas" was being widely used at the time, especially in music to describe female singers. Don't know if that example holds up either.

I don't know if it was misogynist but the crap they put Molly Holly through was disgusting. By all accounts you have one of the nicest people in wrestling and you make fun of her because she was a virgin. You make fun of her underwear because she wasn't wearing a thong and King couldn't act like a horny middle-schooler. You make fun of her body (and I thought she had/has a great body and was/is beautiful) because if wasn't the type whoever was in charge thought was attractive. Seeing the treatment her and Lita got within a year of each other reminds me of this set of photos I saw once where someone had a "ruler" drawn on their leg and their chest for the cut of her dress labelled between "prude" and "whore" and none of them were positive

Or angle was suppose to say bestial (like beasts) and accidentally said beastiality Beastial/bestial - marked by base or inhuman instincts or desires. In this case he wanted rough sex.

The Jeff Jarrett angle gets the 'marginally less terrible' award because he put a woman over to pay it off. Almost every other example doesn't come anywhere near what would potentially excuse a misogynist angle - having a female babyface go over at the end

Having a title called the Diva's Championship. It made sense at the time since it was the women championship for the Smackdown brand with Raw already had the WWE Women Championship. During that time, WWE try to make sure all the championship had different name for each brands (WWE Championship/World Heavyweight Championship, IC/US Championship, WWE tag team championship/world tag team championship, women/diva championship) instead of Red belt, Blue belt.

But, I don't think it's anywhere near enough to save the segment in retrospect, because it was really that damn gross.

She and Edge may have gotten a successful heel run but to show the double standards of the time it pretty much ended her career while it made Edge an even bigger star. Edge became the bad boy Rated R Superstar while Lita became the s*** who cheated on Matt Hardy. She got that much abuse for it online and in her day to day life that it was one of the contributing factors that led to her retirement.

The diva search in general, zero respect for women's wrestling, zero respect for the participants from the company and fans alike. What happened to Ashley Massaro is unforgivable.
