Hey, can anyone clear up for me if the 2023 specials are airing across the year or across just November 2023? I’m guessing there’s nothing coming for the festive season this year at all. No festive special this year, the trilogy of 2023 specials with Tennant and Tate air in November, and there's a Christmas special after that to introduce Ncuti's Doctor.

Isn't David Tennant the version of any top Page 3 model over whom the Doctor Who fandom remembers with a nostalgic wank? Also, the info/rumour presented here makes me recall this: I hope she sticks around across the eventual changes in showrunners. We haven't had a doctor in the NuWho era who has. I'd also like to see Armando Iannucci or Phoebe Waller-Bridge take over as showrunner. I'd like to say I'm a time traveller, from a future in which we can download rice. (language)

www.tvzoneuk.com/post/drwho-071222Series 14 will be 8 episodes long. More than Series 13, less otherwise than the others. Still, that was rumoured and I'm not so sad. Because it seems like the trade-off for slightly smaller series is that RTD is committing to "annual Doctor Who, no gap years, lots of content, on and on." and bringing the Christmas special back after Chibnall dropped it. Most definitely pleased to hear that. It's kind of staggering to realise that, after it was such a staple when the show returned, we haven't had two successive series + Christmas specials since 2014 & 2015...!

Christmas specials included will bump the regular episode count up to 9.
I wonder if the first four specials (3 Tennant, 1 Ncuti) are included in the series 14 package?

Doctor Who Magazine details {Spoiler}
One of the words that Davies mentions as appearing in the second special is Flux- specifically capitalised. Probably a sign that he isn't ignoring the past thirteen years, as some feared. One of the villains in Block 1 is probably some sort of vampire- Handcock compares them to monsters from the Fourth Doctor and the Seventh Doctor, and the State of Decay vampires and the Haemovores are the only ones I can think of who fit the bill. Whatever they are, they're achieved with prosthetics from Millenium FX, and Handcock mentions movement tests with them, so I'd speculate that they're some sort of full-body costume. Handcock also mentions that a script was distributed to a special guest star for the first special on October 12th, with ADR recording for them taking place on October 17th. Obviously this guest star didn't take part in filming in May, so I'd guess that this is a voiceover-only role- given these details and the reports in the papers last month, I'd bet that this is Miriam Margolyes playing Beep the Meep. Davies mentions that some of the Block One filming locations may well have been reported on in the papers, and that some of them are far-flung. Reading between the lines on that one- foreign filming, possibly at a famous or iconic location? One of the upcoming titles is eight words long, and Davies says that it's big news

For anyone following the 'canonical' comic strip storyline, here's how chapter two goes down {Spoiler}The Daleks confront The Doctor at the stadium, the Dalek Supreme (from Stolen Earth/Journey's End) orders The Doctor's death by 'maximum extermination', but they're all rather lousy shots and The Doctor heads back to the TARDIS. The alien tourists decide to spend the day travelling to other parts of london that is being attacked by Daleks and take selfies. The Doctor runs into a woman who's appropriated a golden idol, The Doctor hurries her into the TARDIS but the Daleks steal the craft with a giant crane. The Dalek Supreme orders it's forces to fire on The Doctor

I stopped watching halfway through the Season 14 Blu-Ray set. Sad news about Boucher's passing. I should get back to it to finish his The Face of Evil and to see The Robots of Death.

Costume reveals for Ruby and The Doctor I like the Doctor's outfit... almost. He needs something to break the plaid pattern up a bit, kind of like how Davison had the green celery to break up the the cream colour and red piping of his cricket attire. Green boots, a purple belt, maybe a blue hat because McCoy was the last Doctor to wear a hat on the regular. An item of clothing that's not just different in colour, but texture and pattern also. And it doesn't get said enough: Jo Martin's Fugitive Doctor costume had hella drip.

Re-watching all the Christmas-themed Doctor Who episodes, and David Morrissey would have been a great Doctor.

It's probably a trailer but odd they don't say that. Speculation that it's a mini-episode ala Night of The Doctor centered around NPH's character. I've also seen speculation that he going to be the Celestial Toymaker based on that brief snippet but we shall see.

Perhaps if they have time to kill in the schedule it could be a minisode, in all likelihood it's a trailer just before Call The Midwife or Strictly, but it drops at the same time on Youtube.

So the reddit leaks regarding {Spoiler}Ruth Madeley were right, but she's not playing her Big Finish character, instead it's a new one called Shirley Anne

Production Insights From Doctor Who Magazine
-Ruth Madeley's character of Shirly Anne is integral to the entire Whoniverse -RTD approached the BBC and not the other way around, he can't talk much about what wen on in the Zoom meetings as it'd spoil what's coming -The idea to team with a streaming partner was the BBCs' -RTD hints he'll be writing a follow-up to The Writer's Tale eventually -RTD and Scot Handcock are researching material for a script that's been written two years in advance -Mille is nostalgic for Matt Smith and Vampires In Venice -Jodie and Mandip have reached out and encouraged Mille -The producers work with Disney Branded Televsion -Disney didn't like how one villain was despatched in the third Tennant special, and gave notes. Russel didn't notice. -RTD tells readers not to worry so much about the executive notes they get from Disney -RTD likes the feedback they get from Disney, one note said episode one of Ncuti's series wasn't as fun, so RTD rewrote the opening scene, which was slightly more expensive, but more fun -The BBC were always going to partner up with a streaming platform, RTD infers the BBC could no longer afford to make the programme on their own -RTD says that while the budget is bigger, the budget that got widespread reported is inaccurate. They still have meetings on Monster budgets.
