I feel like calling them "top indy" is weird when they are always so close to WWE in ratings... I'm not reading all of it because it hurts my head. Calling it a "top indy" actually makes sense. MLW, Impact, ROH, NWA, and WWE all seem to exist in a vacuum. There might be some forbidden door stuff but it mostly features a small group of wrestlers with storylines and everything is resolved in a month or so, then things get mixed up again until the next big show or ppv. AEW feels more like GCW, NJPW, or big indies where yes they use mostly their own talent, but people can pop up from anywhere, the programs are more about the matches then a storyline, and if there is a storyline it could take over a year to get to the point. This...Thank you for explaining it so much better than I have been able to over the last few weeks...This is what I am experiencing as a fan and it's both good and bad to me. My wife who is a casual viewer has totally bailed on the product unfortunately because of it. Due to the fact that she only knows a handful of competitors through her time watching WWE with me, and because she is not as hardcore when it comes to the psychology and moves it leaves little else for her to get excited about week in and week out. Her current favorite thing in wrestling right now is Tony D'Angelo and it is simply because there is character work being done instead of just existing on his laurels. I am not saying AEW doesn't but they feel more like real people having matches each week than larger than life superstars. Like she had no idea why I was freakin out about Suzuki and due to his age and moveset the only thing that has stuck with her is "Murder Grandpa". Now if they would have done video packages about his arrival and taught their audience who he is and why he is important maybe it would mean more. No clue.

Tony being in front of the press for media events is no different than Dana White being in front of the press for media events. He runs the place, it seems fine to me. And as far as long term stories, uh. We're approaching the climax of both Hangman and Omega's arcs from day one of the company, a two and a half year evolution for both men to where they are now. Citing Hangman as not being the guy because of All In is especially hilarious to me when they have spent the entire company's lifespan building him up to be a top star and people just booed Moxley against him. Totally off the mark. Then it gets into the bikini stuff and uh. Yeahhhh. No. A lot here is off base but I didn't even bother to keep reading after that bit, I'm super good. There's stuff AEW needs to fix but it ain't this. I stopped when It said all champions before Britt were awful. And it hurt to read until there because of the awful writing and formating of the text . In the topic of the title,I feel like Tony Khan almost never does sudden big moments, I feel like he could take a risk or other to have a young guy get a big win when he gets some sudden momentum.

I think their booking for the most part is patient though. Storylines tend to last until the logical conclusion and aren't nixed halfway through because Khan got bored of it. The Hangman/Elite saga can be traced as far back as late 2019. It's put on hold a few times but it resumes with zero inconsistencies.
I don't think there's been an angle that didn't have an ending to it. I guess the heel stable Brandi was putting together that one time, and that was because it was haaaaated.
This article is dumb.

Tony could look at him dead in the eye and say, "For free? No, I'll pay you six figures a year and not even notice it."

This dude probably gave a Smackdown spoiler report in 2012 and made sure to note how much he thought every match sucked and that he totally flipped off Dolph Ziggler.

Now if they would have done video packages about his arrival and taught their audience who he is and why he is important maybe it would mean more. No clue. Think that's also way they have a rabid fan base but its hard for them to get in casual viewers, people are coming in for the big moments, Punk, Bryan, etc and not really sticking around, when it's probably the greatest wrestling company ever put together on paper. Unless you have been watching wrestling your whole life, its hard to understand who everyone is and why these moments are important. Im a diehard fan and even I have a hard time understanding why I should care about Bobby Fish or Daniel Garcia besides they "wrestle good." The matches in AEW are great but I feel they go on a little to long for me (probably the casual viewer) and when every match is a epic classic, it kinda loses it value over time. I'd rather watch a weekly episode of OVW, the wrestling isn't the greatest but everyone is given something do, there's well defined heels and faces, they rely on old wrestling tropes and its just stupid fun. AEW kinda comes off as pretentious.

Where do I stand? As far away from this creepy dude as possible before he starts calling me slurs and telling me what kind of porn he likes.

The "wrestlers shouldn't admit that they play video games" bit is, um. It sure shows a complete lack of awareness of where our current cultural moment is at. As if someone can't be a top athlete who plays video games? And like, trying to keep kayfabe to where we don't know anything of a wrestler besides their persona on the show is a ship that has long since sailed, and it should stay sailed, because we all know it's a performance.
This article might be the best example I have seen for my theory that there's a subset of wrestling fan whose preference with wrestling is that it should be a power fantasy for a very particular form of masculinity, where men are Real Tough Guys, there are No Nerds, and every tough guy gets Hot Women of his choosing.
And yeah, at the point where he's saying that what AEW needs is more brainless fanservice, hoy. Nope nope nope nope nope.

The site where CAW feds were innovated saying for talent to not admit they like video games is the pot having no self awareness when arguing with the kettle.

Oh my god I did not catch that, that's so f***ing funny. I hope they feel bad for disappearing after the 07 PPV where Luigi beat Frankenstein.

So a wrestling show shouldn't book wrestling matches just because they can...
WTF? They're pro wrestlers! You don't NEED a storyline to just have a big match. They're having a big match because its a wrestling company and they want to be successful by having big matches. And each wrestler wants to win that match to prove they're better than the other. No one has to assault someone backstage, break into their house, insult their wife, etc. to make a match a big deal. Two top wrestlers having a wrestling match is a big deal because it will be a good fight. That other shit is absolutely entertaining when appropriate, but sometimes matches can just happen.
And the op who said AEW feels like an indie fed? Yeah, that's because its a pro wrestling show, not WWE's lousy excuse for an entertainment variety show that doesn't actually entertain anyone but Vince.

Wrestleshit.gov has an exclusive report on last night's Smackdown taping from our reader ChuckXErect: "Bad Smackdown taping last night. I got a hot dog and a beer from the concessions stand and they tasted bad. Must've been made by the booking team. First match was a crappy dark match with Trent Barreta. I wasn't paying attention to this match, not just because Trent has bad workrate, but because there was a kid near me with a John Cena shirt and a Randy Orton sign. I told this stupid kid that those two won't even be there, as they are drafted to the Raw brand. His parents yelled at me but they must've been Cena marks too. Kaitlyn had a dark match next and man she looked hot and I let her know!! She had an awful match."
