Wow, looking at the comments here, that ending was divisive. People either seem to love or hate it.
I loved it.

I had to tune out so I’m gonna watch Punk/MJF tomorrow but sounds like it was a barn burner. I totally understand why people are tired of the Diamond Ring finish, though.

Also, I guess cool anti-hero Wardlow is dead. My interest in him just dropped to 0 his turn will be coming Too little too f***ing late!

Also, I guess cool anti-hero Wardlow is dead. My interest in him just dropped to 0 I mean, it’s still blatantly obvious he’s turning on MJF? We just saw him shaking his head after the finishing and they’ve building up the turn for a while. Just because it didn’t happen *this one night* doesn’t mean it’s not going to happen.

I’m not going to sit here and tell people their opinions are wrong, but sometimes it feels like we’re all watching different shows.
Wardlow’s slow burn face turn is still very much happening. He didn’t seem especially thrilled at having to help MJF cheat to win that match. It’s mystifying to me that some people watched that and were like “yeah, Wardlow’s back to just being a heel lackey.” I don’t see any reason to rush the build, because when the payoff finally happens it’s going to be star making.

Honestly, MJF winning with the ring AGAIN is kind of lame after such a fresh, interesting match. I see where you'd think that, but MJF's whole shtick is pissing off the audience. What better way than to win the same old shit, after Punk got about twenty hope spots?

My only real problem with the finish was how dragged out it was. Not that they should've just had Wardlow run out, hand off the ring, punch, three with no time to breathe but feel like you could've cut that leg of its time in half and it wouldn't have actually changed anything about it.
Either way MJF was definitely the right call as the winner.

I get why people are fed up with the Diamond Ring but…yeah, it made the most sense to do it that way. Also, come on now, Wardlow spent a good couple of minutes being conflicted AF about the whole thing. Of course he’s still turning.

I don't mind Punk losing to a young AEW guy, just...this is how all of MJF's big matches end. The ring toss was slick, but compared to the "I'm going to beat you with a headlock takeover", it was still unimaginative.
Also, he always wins. Yeah, Jericho beat him after losing three times in a row, but still...
Let him get killed by somebody for real once so he actually has a feud lined up when he does win a title. It's not like he can't get his heat back.

Too little too f***ing late! Lol, not really? Like this has been a slow build for a long time, this shit's happening when there's way more on the line

I think they run it back on PPV, probably a stipulation match, there Punk gets his win back, but I think Wardlow finally turns face there.

This... dont know where "Well Wardlow isnt turning and it's too late if he ever does now" is coming from. That continued to build it just fine, and that Ring is gonna fail, probably on the rematch

Didn't watch but given some of the responses here yeah, glad I didn't. I'll peep it this weekend probably. Just glad to know that my expectations have been lowered. I never like that "hey guys this is hype hype amazing omg" stuff anyway so this is good for me.

I guess I shouldn't be, but I'm shocked the ending was divisive here.

That match was way, way, way better than the ladder match that was "5 stars."

It's not like he can't get his heat back. He's going to, this shit is absolutely getting run back at Revolution, and imo that might be where the Wardlow turn definitively comes. Just a great story told to get to that imo
