So it's Owens then huh?
Wasn't really caring much but shoutout to Owens.

So, this is essentially what could get Steve Austin out of retirement after nearly 20 years...

Yea I highly doubt this ends up being a match ...more like Rowan Vs Rock vibes.
Owens will keep dogging texas and even call out Austin but Austin wont do anything untill the actual show.

I know we all use to say, "getting the rub" is the most important thing.
But tell me, how does this benefit Owens at all except a big payday at Wrestlemania?
It's like when Austin stunned Styles on Raw in 2019, that did nothing for him, but bury the current roster stars.
If it's a joke match, that's fine. But a legit blood feud, this ain't it.

They're just doing what they did with Rock and hoping Austin accepts.

Hard pass. It’s been 20 years, I don’t really want to see Austin in the ring again at this point

You know, considering Saudi Arabia seemed to be smack bang in the middle of the New Generation a little while back, they might have just hit the Attitude Era which creates new demands for 2022 WWE.
Gotta please the folks who propagate the machine pay the bills.

I'm just really curious what the cost/benefit analysis for WWE is here. Surely they're paying him a boatload of money to do that. Whatever tickets he sells probably won't match it. They don't make much on PPV. I guess there's the general buzz but it always fades.

I suppose it's more dignified than when they wanted him to come back to lose to Coach but not by a lot.

I feel like Owens' "whine about Texas" gimmick is better suited for a segment where he gets stunned by Austin, not a full fledged match. I can't really think of anyone on the current roster that'd really feel big enough for Austin to come back for after nearly twenty years, outside of something against Reigns (he'd lose, barf) against Lesnar (I can't see him wanting to take suplex city but?) or a part timer like Cena. They've devalued their roster so much that even when bringing big names back they have no one credible to face.

I'm sure it's a childhood dream for Kevin Owens and maybe something they promised Kevin in the long run if he re-signed, but I have negative interest in watching a match where all Kevin Owens does is sell for a 57 YEAR OLD STEVE AUSTIN and then lose
If you wanna do a segment where Austin stuns Owens? By all means, but I don't see how this can be any sort of feasible match outside of Owens getting squashed and Austin going bumpless, which would just make Owens look like the biggest goober on the planet, much like how Rowen looked when he lost to Rock in like four seconds, and that did WONDERS for his career...
If these are the types of plans for Owens, forgive me if I start counting down for when his contract is almost up again...

We are going to get some Saudis asking for bikini contests, Val Venis, and the ghost of Big Bossman feuding with a one time deal of Big Show for one night only right?

Wow that would be amazing. It’s Stone Cold, can’t downplay how big of a deal it would be if Austin comes out of retirement almost 20 years after his last match for one more match against Owens at WrestleMania in Texas. Wouldn’t hurt Owens in the least and is about as big of a match as you can get.
And Austin at 57 still looks to be in great shape and is like 5 years younger than Sting.

I can see a segment at WM where KO runs down Texas and gets his ass kicked by HBK, Undertaker, and Austin, but an actual match? I dunno.

While this is pretty nuts it's still emblematic of WWE's problems where they aren't selling much tickets, they can't create stars so they have to bring back another nostalgia act.

I’d prefer if Austin didn’t do it. He had the ideal final match: the end of a trilogy of matches with his greatest rival that capped the story of Rock not being able to beat him at Mania. Nothing could be more fitting than that.
