I remember them saying it was something like 10 Germans? At the very least, I remember 8. I watched that live and couldn't really comprehend it. 10. I figured it was but saying it out loud seemed crazy. Because it was.

Well f***.
Wasn’t gonna watch Mania but I guess I need to watch a little bit of it now.
Austin is Austin.
You win this round, Vince.

I figured it was but saying it out loud seemed crazy. Because it was. A Steve Austin 2001 rewatch seems like a good idea just in general.

Because when I was watching it at the time, a lot of stuff was overshadowed by how shit a lot of the writing was and how they took the fallout of TLC 3 and used it to build an Austin/HHH vs. Taker/Kane match.

True true. Pure performance wise its got good things in there but you see the death of the mainstream business there

I figured it was but saying it out loud seemed crazy. Because it was. A Steve Austin 2001 rewatch seems like a good idea just in general. It's bittersweet for me because I got into wrestling as a fourteen year old in early 99. I missed 98 Austin at the time. Stone Cold was me hero. Then by the end of the year he was gone for a year. I waited for him to return and he did! He was so over in his October 2000- Mania X7 face run and he didn't need to turn heel. I was devastated and in retrospect, despite it being entertaining, it was a bad decision. So whilst I love 2001 Austin, I do wish he hadn't turned. That being said I recommend a lot of Austin's 2000-2001- 6 man Hell in a cell 2000 No way out 2001 Vs trips The rumble Mania against rock Raw rematch in a cage against rock Austin and HHH Vs taker and kane at backlash Austin and HHH Vs Benoit and Jericho on raw Austin Vs angle at summerslam Austin Vs Benoit in 2001 on raw and snackdown Austin Vs Benoit Vs Jericho on ppv Austin on so many raw and smackdown matches that year

It's funny if the corporate structure of the WWE in 1998-2001 were any good they would have probably set themselves up for better years which is mind boogling considering those were their most profitable for a while

I don’t know what to think about this promo, like yeah, it’s a great promo, but at the same time I’m like “Of course he’s better, nobody else is given the same tools and/or freedom to get close”. There’s this strange correlation in WWE between who are generally considered the best promos in the company and who gets significantly more freedom and input into their promos Thought to mention I pretty much agree with both of these posts because it's glaring how like Steve Austin Steve Austin sounds likes and how much like Vince everyone else sounds.

For me, all Austin needs to do is show up, talk a little trash, give KO the Stone Cold Stunner, drink some beer and leave. That's all I need and I will be happy with it!
In the meantime, KO needs to just bury Austin on all shows leading up to it. This will make the Mania encounter even better!

Austins still that guy. It'll just be an angle and a quick brawl/stunner, but it'll still be cool when I watch in YouTube the day after.
