Reading all of the news since this was announced I was kind of weary about it because the original description sounded horrible…but both the wife and I really enjoyed it. It really was meant to take the piss out of the nostalgia and remake craze but I wouldn’t mind if they did a sequel that was more of a closer remake storyline wise if it was as fun as this. Better yet round up the DuckTales '17 bunch and do a proper straight-up adventure series to compliment the film. I'm sure having this as an alternative will help quell the people still unwilling to accept the movie. (kinda of like how Animated and Prime were there for Transformers fans who disliked the Michael Bay universe) |

I will say I keep thinking about Bonkers being the lead to this, though, and how much sense it would make. Him being the "forgotten"/"misunderstood" TDA show who got no respect writes itself. You could even have a gag where he is indeed down on his luck and laments, "I couldn't even get a cameo on the DuckTales reboot!"

I stand corrected.
Still, the angle with him feeling underappreciated would have set up this film had he been the star.
(If we're really breaking down forbidden doors, even have Bonkers finally confront the Warner Brothers and Sister for all the jabs they took on Animaniacs)

So, while this isn't the Rescue Rangers revival I really wanted, I will admit it was a fun little 90 minute and change movie.
That said, I really wonder what made Disney decided that this was the project to start licensing appearances from all those non-Disney characters for?

I got thinking about one joke in the film: {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}If they did the Seth Rogan bit with any other character in that convention scene. Which other characters played by the same actor will appear:
Chip (John Mulaney): Andrew from Big Mouth, Spider-Ham from Into The Spider-Verse
Dale (Andy Samberg): I know he has done a lot of voice work.. but I can’t think of anything noteworthy except for his recurring role in the Hotel Transylvania series.. IMDb says he was in Space Chimps so I guess you could throw that in.
Putty (JK Simmons): got lots to choose from here from Ford Pines from Gravity Falls, Omni-Man from Invincible, Mayor Lionheart from Zootopia
Pete (Will Arnett): Bojack Horsman, Lego Batman, Horst from Ratatouille |

Okay....well, I'm still alive. Not only that, but...I didn't hate it. It wasn't the greatest thing ever, but not a waste of time/wall banger. Some initial thoughts. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}
I actually got used to the "human" CnD voices. It worked for what it was. And they did basically get the characters right...Chip is more sensible, Dale...not so much.
For those picky about that sort of thing...one damn, one hell, fart and butt reference.
Ellie is a thing but she doesn't Shia LeBeouf the thing. It's mostly a Chip 'n' Dale story.
So....based on visual appearances, Disney was able to use characters from: Hasbro, Warner Bros., NBCUniversal, ViacomCBS, and Sega (obviously...would movie Sonic, er, Ugly Sonic, be Paramount/ViacomCBS too?).
About the WB connections...again a lost opportunity to somehow reference the Goofy Gophers. Especially when we see what rebooted CnD could look like.
And being that the whole story was the threat of characters being bootlegged....NO WABUU? You have Meeko to base it off of it writes itself!!
Tress being back was nice (no Gollys, though :-( Yes I am keeping count as I watch the originals. Up to Dale Beside Himself, and including the pilot, 20, by the way...). But....ALAN OPPENHEIMER SKELETOR!!!!
I must say the choice of final boss is better than all the rumors, and appropriate for the RR.
Ugly Sonic defeating a character with Jim Cummings' voice? Perish the thought!

The Dale Rhymes With Whale rap...did Rachel Bloom write that? Her using the same word to rhyme seems like her, based on some Crazy Ex-Girlfriend songs.

{Spoiler}I mean, maybe. But there was an episode of the original Rescue Rangers called "Double 'O Chipmunk" where Dale plays "Double 'O Super-Spy". If anything I would think that would be a more likely inspiration for "Double 'O Dale". |

But...if Wanda Maximoff was there, Captain Erzatz Gumby would go down a lot quicker ;-) |
