Has Becky's mom reached out to him? I'm under the impression he would love that. He's a good guy and I want good things for him.

Dude is seriously one of the luckiest men in the world... which seems WEIRD when saying he broke his neck... but... still...

So is he saying that breaking that particular vertebrae literally saved his life and livelihood compared to the worst case scenario?
Holy shit.

He got supremely lucky here. Having such a thick neck might very well have saved his life.

I think it’s more that if he had broken the C1 more severely than he did, those other terrible things may have happened. The higher up on the spine, the worse it is. Christopher Reeve’s injury was a broken C1 and C2.

The parallels to Tyson Kidd's neck injury in regards to his neck pretty much saving his life is insane.

Although it's obviously not as important as escaping death, Does this mean that his career is done?

Although it's obviously not as important as escaping death, Does this mean that his career is done? Reading through what Tyson said about his injury again. They're similar, but not entirely. TJ didn't break his neck. Here's his words: Kidd said he knew then what was wrong. “I knew my body so well, I knew I broke my neck,” he said. Kidd underwent an MRI and waited for the doctor to return with an update. The doctor told him not to move and said Kidd’s disc hit his spinal cord, which is why he saw the white light. Kidd was told the injury he suffered is called a spinal cord concussion. The doctor told him “this is really bad.” “I didn’t fracture my neck, I didn’t break it, but technically it’s actually worse. The ligament holding the C2 ruptured, so my disc hit my spinal cord,” Kidd said. “That’s what caused the temporary paralysis. You don’t have to sever your spinal cord to be paralyzed for life. You could just touch it and be paralyzed for life. There are different situations obviously.” Kidd said the next morning the doctor came back in and confirmed his worst fears. “The doctor comes in and these are his exact words: ‘Hey, your wrestling career is over, I’d like to do emergency surgery right now,’ ” Kidd said. “I’m thinking, ‘Man, first off, you need to learn how to speak to people because that’s not how a conversation starts.'” --- I guess it's a positive that Big E didn't need surgery, but I'm honestly not sure. It's tricky.

It's tricky. My understanding is the fact he only fractured the vertebrae and had no ligament or spinal chord damage is promising... but it's a matter of how it heals I think.

Yeah, it’s still very much a question of if, not when.
Has anyone in major contact sports come back from a C1 fracture and been just fine, let alone wrestling?

The parallels to Tyson Kidd's neck injury in regards to his neck pretty much saving his life is insane. I have a friend whose dad was in a bad motorcycle accident before he was even born. He had an irregularly thick vertebrae, something he never knew he had till the post-accident's x-rays revealed it, that essentially saved his neck from snapping, and more than likely killing him. Meaning my friend would probably never have been born. So... yeah, what the human body can endure is f***ing crazy, but given the recent Regal health report, I think we all know that very well by now lol

That we're talking about it still being a possibility instead of a for sure career-ender is miraculous, much less that he wasn't paralyzed or killed.
I mean, it's scary how close that came to being just like what happened to Mitsuharu Misawa.
