New names always take some time to get used to, but Katana Chance and Alba Fyre are particularly terrible names.
Actually I think Katana Chance is one of the worst names I’ve ever heard.

If they thought Io would be valuable in NXT they would have put the title back on her instead of throwing all of the green women at Mandy who herself is not good in the ring at all. Instead they had Io eat the pin and vanish off of TV entirely. Because working with Io in a title program will do a hell of a lot more for your career than it would with Mandy, whose ceiling at the end of the day on the main roster is low midcarder. It would also behoove WWE to appease Io by giving her what she wants sooner rather than later. Because if she feels she has a ceiling above her head that WWE will refuse to let her break, she will cut ties and leave. She has always had massive aspirations, and if she feels like WWE is yanking her around, she will absolutely leave them. And her English is fine and she is charismatic. One bad promo doesn't mean your English is bad. Especially when everyone in that promo came off real bad. I doubt they care if she leaves. Maybe not now but this gives me feeling with what happened with Kairi. They do not care about using Io now but they damn sure are gonna f***ing care if she starts lookin to get out of the company because remember when things started really picking up about Kairi leaving and all of a sudden Kairi actually got to be Kairi...she was putting on bangers with Sasha and Bayley and even pinned the SD womens champion ...a glass ceiling she was clearly never gonna get past beforehand and then they put out videos and treated Kairi like she was so important to them and gave her this touching send off and only got so desperate to keep her even going as far to bring her husband over to live in america when they realized she was leaving. But unlike Kairi , Io would not be leaving to go be with a husband in Japan but instead leave because she knows she is wasting her time and talents sitting around doing nothing in a company who does not value her and will jump ship to their chief rival because they will no doubt back up the money train to her...a big thing about AEW and which seems to be their womens division is that while it may have talent it lacks that one singular woman that can truly elevate it.....Io is that woman and while they wont ever admit it WWE damn sure f***ing knows it and especially the likes of HHH know it and do not want her over there , it is the whole we do not want to use her but we damn sure do not want anyone else to have her.

It's typical WWE let's give a push to get someone to stay, then you'll go right back where you were.

People are complaining about the new NXT names. We know these names are going to bad, so we should be used to them. Imagine if social media was around back in the day when we heard Sting's name for the first time. "LOL, this guy's named after the singer". Probably people would be mad about a lot of popular names or think they were stupid, "Randy Savage, how stupid. Roddy Piper, LOL, Ricky Steamboat, so stupid". But no one cared back then. So, why is today different? The wrestlers themselves aren't changing. They are still good wrestlers. So, enjoy them and not their name. The thing is with a lot of those wrestlers, they were never really anything else. It's one thing to establish yourself with a slightly silly name, and another to get given it several years later when everyone already knows who you are. This is more like if Ricky Steamboat upon being brought into the WWF in 1985 was renamed Garrison Honolulu because he was supposed to be a kayfabe Hawaiian, despite already being well known as Ricky Steamboat. For my examples, I meant before they wrestled in WWE. Ricky Steamboat's real name is Richard Blood. So, if the internet was around when he debuted as Ricky Steamboat, people would probably laugh at that and say, why change his name, Blood is much cooler than Steamboat.

Katana Chance sounds like a 80s Private Investigator.
"There's only one man who can clean up the streets, and that's Katana Chance! Catch the new case, this Sunday on NBC at 8!"

Alba Fyre would be better if she was called Arya Fyre.
That's all I have to add to this.
Honestly, compared to crap like "Theory" and "Riddle", I don't think these 2 names are too bad.

Rest easy there will be no deathly Hallow for Hartwell and no Special Agent Clarice for Kai.
Via 411: "Despite rumors to the contrary, Dakota Kai and Indi Hartwell are not currently getting name changes in NXT. A post was circulating on Instagram that Kai was being renamed to Clarice Riverz while Hartwell was becoming Indiana Hallow, but Fightful Select has confirmed that is not the case.
Dakota Kai is a WWE-owned and trademarked name, and while Indi Hartwell used that name before WWE there’s no word of it being changed at this time. WWE has been seemingly returning to the practice of renaming all stars their own created names as of late, which likely spurred the rumor."

Maybe Kay Lee Ray is going to start doing a Jessica Alba gimmick. Hopefully when we see her next, she is dressed like Nancy from Sin City.

The thing is with a lot of those wrestlers, they were never really anything else. So, if the internet was around when he debuted as Ricky Steamboat, people would probably laugh at that and say, why change his name, Blood is much cooler than Steamboat. The difference is that he debuted as Ricky Steamboat in somewhere. A lot of the pushback on WWE renames in recent years has been that people have been on national television for WWE, even winning championships, and then just getting their names changed mid-stream, and nobody is bothering to explain anything, they're just pretending it's how stuff's been. Not a gimmick change (except 'Butch'), just a sudden, inexplicable, arbitrary decision to yank names around when peopel already know who these people are. In the case of Steamboat, he had that name before he even showed up in JCP, that's a very different story. And even if WWE had changed his name when he came in, that'd be something. But changing Raquel's name when she spent 200 days as a champion on USA Network? That's dumb. That's not comparable.

But NXT has been on the WWE Network for like 9 years and then moved to USA for the past 3 years... it has crossed over with Raw and Smackdown MULTIPLE TIMES... so suddenly being oh this isn't Rowe and Hanson the War Raiders it's Erik and Ivar the Viking Experience... while they are the current NXT Tag Team Champions is kind of insulting to people intelligence.
