James Cameron looking at the top 5 money-making movies of all time and seeing Infinity War as the current #5 like:

The main thing I remember about the first Avatar, other than Sam Worthington not being able to maintain an American accent to save his life, is that the 3D gave me a massive headache halfway through, and then the movie kept going for another hour after that.
So if I do end up seeing this in theaters it damn sure is gonna be 2D.

My daughter and I saw this over the weekend, after watching the first Avatar together a week or so ago, and I don't know if it was recency bias kicking in, but boy did it feel like The Way of Water was too long. It was an enjoyable film but it seemed to drag in spots and didn't feel like it was (no pun intended) treading any new water. Animations and CGI were incredible.
Hopefully, 3 introduces a different big bad and motivation for the RDA colonization efforts.

Safe to say this place doesn’t have any box office experts lol. I saw the movie last week, pretty to look at and a good movie for the most part, but definitely much longer than it needed to be.

All credit to Cameron. First director to have three movies gross $2 billion at the box office.
Also, only six movies have ever passed $2 billion, and Zoë Saldana starred in four of them.

I'm honestly happy for Cameron. After these past few years it's nice to have an egotistical rich person go "I'm right, you're wrong and I'm going to show you by making more money than anyone else with my over extravagant passion project" and not "I'm right, you're wrong and I'm going to show you by spreading misinformation and targeting the most vulnerable with my army of sociopaths".

Interesting that it's 4th highest internationally while not even cracking top 10 domestically. Really shows the strength the movie has outside of the US, especially in China.

I'm still amazed that cameron manages to make two films now that makes so much money yet have zero imprint on the cultural zeitgeist. I don't have seen anyone quote either of the the Avatar films. The advancement of special fx seem to be it's only lasting legacy.
