Cody was made well before this and did not need to do this to "Make himself" imo. And it arguably won't be forgotten for negative reasons too. I think you’re underestimating the crowd that will think this guy is a hero for doing that. I’m admittedly between the two camps, but assuming he didn’t make things much worse, as sick as it is this likely raises his stock. I’m of the mind It’s “Just” a torn pec. He didn’t go out there with a concussion. He didn’t go out there with a neck stinger or back issue. He didn’t go out there on something that will make limp for the rest of his life. If you’re mad enough to fight through a serious injury, this is probably one of the “safer” ones. I use quotes, because he’s a madman and absolutely stupid. But what… sling for a couple extra months? At the end of the day, that’s not that bad compared to what others have had to go through.

Sure Is he now out potentially 6 plus months? Yes So I just have to feel like it's a big "I won but at what cost?" situation. Dude essentially needs to get the immediate rocket belt push when he's back, and if he doesn't, this felt even more pointless, and that's even dependent on when he returns and if he even beats Roman. and also... like in the here and now... so he won the match... but Seth lost to a one armed man. and Seth is the one that is going to be here next week...

Fair... but I just am in the camp that he really shouldn't have risked it, or gone through it at all The only positive from this is that when he comes back the Rollins feud is over and he hopefully takes a belt off Roman, otherwise what the f***? What did he do that for??

Honestly whether Cody will be more over or not? Hard to tell. Depends on how long he's out. He absolutely could be out for awhile and not miss a beat, or it could be like Finn Balor when he got hurt after winning the Universal Title and when he's back Vince lost interest.
Do I THINK that will happen if Cody's out awhile? No. But you honestly never know with this company.
Now for all we know Cody is just out for a couple weeks

We’re going to have a Bryan-esq moment in front of a rabid crowd at Mania when he wins, I believe in the E. (Setting myself up for disappointment 😂)

When it comes to wrestlers and injuries the last 48 hours this has been rough, cool that Cody was still able to put out a good match from it, but people calling this "Match of the Year" or in Dave's case "One of the most compelling matches in history" are making me give a side eye. This shit should not be condoned, at all. I don't wanna see wrestlers who are absolutely f***ed to no end, try and grind it out until they grind themselves to the nub and there's nothing left. It's why I'm glad Kenny Omega took a break and got his surgeries and shit done when the wheels were falling off. I don't want to see wrestlers thinking they can go out and do this, I don't want to see companies ok'ing the idea that "Cody went out there and had a banger, this is fine", it's not. It just isn't. This should not have happened. Again, props to them that they made it work... but I feel like it happening at all is just kind of... embarrassing? I just am gonna have a really hard time praising this one. WWE and Cody don't come off flattering in my book by doing it. It's gonna be one to process... and I really pray we never see something like it again, full stop. Kenny did what Cody did tonight about 100 times. Or however many times he wrestled between 2018 and 2021. He admitted he was suffering from long-term vertigo due to a dropkick from Okada. I don’t know how that was even possible to pull off. What if you’re in the middle of some complicated spot, have a dizzy spell and drop your opponent or yourself on their head. It could have ended in catastrophe.

Vince is giving Cody that title. He's a made f***ing man in the eyes of Vince. He's becoming Champion when he comes back.

Omega had nagging injuries he knew would only get worse if he continued so he bit the bullet and got surgery. It was not 100 times like Cody. The vertigo thing is kinda crazy, just shows how coordinated Omega is.

I will have my weekly column up tomorrow before Raw. But here's the Complete History of the Hell In A Cell Match updated with tonight's results: darrenswinloss.wordpress.com/2017/10/02/history-of-the-hell-in-the-cell-match/Here's the Complete History of the Hell In A Cell PPV: darrenswinloss.wordpress.com/wwehiac/Here are my Hell In A Cell Thoughts: The Kickoff was a waste of time besides the Cody Rhodes' training video & the interview with Ezekiel. Before I forgot, I forgot to include it in my Hell In Cell Preview, but tonight was the 1st PPV since last year's Hell In A Cell PPV that no member of The Bloodline wrestled. (That's courtesy of an awesome Twitter Account (@wwestats). Awesome opening video. Bianca Belair VS Asuka VS Becky Lynch was incredible. I am so happy that Sasha & Naomi walked out. Bianca VS Naomi would have sucked big time. Cool video on Roman Reigns. OK segment with MVP, Omos, & Cedric Alexander. Now the 3rd time we are seeing this stupid rap song in less than 24 hours. Waste of time. Bobby Lashley VS MVP & Omos was good for the most part. Cedric interfering should have been a DQ. Love Lashley grabbing the fan's Championship to hint at him VS Reigns. Ezekiel VS Kevin Owens was a really good match. The premise of the feud is a little silly but both men have been great in it. Cool video on Seth Rollins. Finn Balor, Liv Morgan, & AJ Styles VS Edge, Damian Priest, & Rhea Ripley was an awesome match. Damn the only Smackdown match on the PPV & no Pat McAfee. Madcap Moss VS Happy Corbin was a fun No Holds Barred Match. Now, I hope this feud is over & Moss can move on to better things. WWE re-writing history. Raw was not Ali's 1st ever US Title Match. He lost to then-Champion Riddle at Fastlane on 3/21/21. Mustafa Ali VS Theory was an incredible match. I'm so glad that both men got to showcase their skills on PPV & the US Title finally gets defended on PPV. Wow. Rollins in the Polka Dots. I was not expecting that. All of the Cody Rhodes haters that were calling him a sellout for going back to WWE need to apologize to him after seeing what he's doing to himself. He earned my respect a million times. And anyone that is making fun of his injury are pieces of crap. Cody Rhodes VS Seth Rollins was amazing. This was a Hall of Fame worthy match. If you didn't like that match or have negative things to say about either man, then cancel your Peacock subscription & never watch WWE again. Overall once again, WWE surprises us with another show that people were crapping on before it airs & it ends up being an awesome show. I loved everything, with the main event being the match of the night.

We can say this now, will we say it in six months when Cody has cooled down and Vince hyperfixates on something else? We'll see I want Cody to be a champion, I feel like that should've been the plan even before this. If he went out there, maimed, only to maim himself further and the followup turns out to not be that? There's no excuse And frankly, he shouldn't have to have gone out there and did that shit to become "A made man" and "A guaranteed champion", that shit's just kinda disgusting to me. Dude shouldn't have to do that to get respected, at all.

This isn’t Balor blowing his shoulder mid-match derailing an entire title run. Dude’s coming back a hero. “ Laugh at us if/when we’re wrong. But I cannot see this moment being wasted.

Maybe it wasn’t 100 because he wasn’t working house shows but it was definitely dozens upon dozens of matches over a couple of years. He literally said so himself. Your eyes might fool you because Cody’s ailment is actually visible to us viewers but working a match (let alone every match for 2-3 years) with vertigo is far riskier than working with a torn pec.

I'm more worried about Vince's attention span than I am worried about the crowd deflating on him with a long absence. I totally believe Cody will be ok in that regard, but this booking changes a lot in six months which might be his timetable, if not longer As I said I think he deserved the world title, but he did before this... he really didn't need to do this to earn that, but it's literally the least they could do after he went out and did it for them, stupid as I think it was for him to do it.

Idk how much the vertigo effected him, or what matches it effected him in, but again, just a testament to Omega that he was always crisp, you wouldn't have even known it But Cody's is a legit "Shut your body down" injury, I just do think that's stupider and adds more risk. But both are healing as they should now, hopefully.

I think the interesting factor tomorrow night will be the audience reaction to everyone. I wouldn't be shocked if like...in the triple threat match, both Becky and Bianca end up getting booed since its in Chicago. Which could have a cascading effect if other audiences decide to follow in the Chicago crowd's footsteps. Way off on that one, Bianca was over huge.

Vertigo you can drop your opponent on your head.
