I'm sure that this was the look on a lot of fans' faces when watching the main event last night.

So I rewatched the main event and the shock of seeing Cody’s injury hasn’t worn off. That crowd reaction is on the undertaker streak being ended level. There’s an audible gasp and shock. I really really hope that they did this as safely as they could(I realise that’s kind of a stupid comment) and that going forward there’s no lasting issues with this injury.

It'll be really weird if this, of all things, gets WWE their first main roster 5 star match in ages, but this is also such a bizarre case that it'd be difficult to argue with it just since, well, how do you even rate something this unusual? The fact that people give Meltzer's start ratings any value, especially after he rated the boring matches of Omega/Okada, ( two guys i like when wrestling pretty much anyone else) 6 plus stars, baffles me.

It’s really not. He’s been THE name in wrestling journalism for decades. He has seen more wrestling in a year than many fans will see in their entire lives. And some wrestlers have said they put value on his ratings, etc. It’s not shocking at all.

I don’t go back and watch matches. I just went back and rewatched this. Damn it’s good. Damn the commentary is top-notch. The vibes in the arena throughout are incredible.
Better than when I watched and commented live.

The weirdest thing about his ratings to me is the fact that Bryan Danielson was considered one of the greatest wrestlers in the world for like 15+ years and he never gave him a 5 star match until he joined AEW. Like I don't understand what flaw you could find in the likes of Bryan/HHH at Wrestlemania, Bryan/Cena at Summerslam, Danielson/McGuiness or Danielson/KENTA in ROH that would stop it getting 5 when there are many lesser matches that get it.

He's always had a clear bias against WWE. Bryan had many 5 star matches in WWE. IMO Bryan/Cena is one of the greatest matches put on by any promotion in the list 25 years.

With this card and what Backlash had, I'm wondering what the ticket sales will be like for the B Shows going forward especially if fans realise that they aren't getting the big matches and all the stars. Might be looking for even more intimate venues I want to touch on this point before the show but will touch on it now. It's mostly a moot point since WWE doesn't have a glorified B show until Day 1 next year. But if they book them like Wrestlemania Backlash or HITC tonight where you are guaranteed to get a three-hour night of just wrestling and no tv taping bs, I wouldn't see why they would get fewer ticket sales. I was wondering if ticket prices and the fact that not all the stars on on these shows as well as a lack of World Title matches would affect things.

There’s was a period in the 2000’s where Dave was REALLY stingy with the ratings. Not sure why?

I think it might have been burnout or something, given the sheer amount of 5 star matches he gave Misawa and Kobashi.
