It looks like Stellan Skarsgård has a pretty weighty role, so I imagine I'll enjoy this.

This looks way better than I ever thought it'd be.

So, I'm interested thanks to the trailer. And this was the show I was interested in the least.
Unlike I know a lot of people, Rogue One left me kinda cold. I didn't connect with most of the characters, it was answering a question (about the exhaust port) that I wasn't much interested in being answered, and was a bit cack-handed in how it linked to ANH. Plus their CGI recreations were overconfident, hit me hard with the uncanny valley. And Andor here was probably the least interesting to me aside from The Pilot Guy.
This seems to get my attention on a couple fronts. Firstly, that it gives a chance now for Andor to get a bunch more backstory and motivation for what he does. Secondly, it's doing something that does interest me, which is a deep dive into the post-ROTS pre-ANH political scene and events on Coruscant, as much as everything else.
So I'm still not buying my Andor (tm) cap and Andor (tm) slurpie cup for the premiere, but I'm gonna give it a try.

First three episodes are up, and it's... shockingly good?

First three episodes are up, and it's... shockingly good? I'm even seeing a lot of positive buzz on places like r/saltierthancrait The most common complaint seems to be "why wasn't Obi Wan this good?" I wasn't too interested before, but with good word of mouth I'll probably check it out now.

That's interesting, as I liked Obi-Wan more than this. But that's not quite fair, as this is only 3 episodes in. I know Andor will be a slow burn. It's got me watching, just not big hooked yet, whereas I was very invested in McGregor & co from the get-go. Rough thoughts: {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW} Right tone set from the off with him shooting the second guy. Absolutely what they had to do to try to distance this from most other SW lead characters. The "gritty, grown up, SERIOUS" marketing is a bit overblown, and the second-in-command yelling "SHIT!" was somewhat try-hard. I was very amused by Syril Karn looking rather like Robbie Rotten. I kept on getting the We Are Number One lyrics going in my head ("Herrrrre's a little lesson in trick-er-y!"). I like how he's obsessed that A Crime Has Been Committed, gets increasingly aware and nervous that he's in over his head, and ends up with the thousand yard stare when it all blows up. The done-with-it-all officer in charge was fantastic, got to feel Karn will regret not taking his order to drop the case. Deft handling of the flashbacks and different characters doing different things in the third episode. No slowing down or signposting, just a confident approach. It does fulfill my first point above with Andor - this is already doing a very good job in giving Andor the character he barely had before, and makes me want to rewatch Rogue One one this is finished. Well, maybe I'll see when the second season is due first. I guess they were going for pathos with Timm's death, but, no sympy. It felt like someone (rapidly) fulfilling their narrative role and now it's time to get killed. Would've been more interesting to have a proper fall-out from that at his workplace and with Bix. Bix and Maarva were very good, too; hope that's not the last we see of them for a while.
It was good, I'll continue to watch.

I've been critical of it since it was announced but that's mostly because I thought it was a pointless story about a character nobody cared about. I figured it would still have good writing and acting though and not actively suck. That said, I watched the pilot and honestly found it pretty damn boring. I'll probably catch the two other episodes tomorrow or Friday.

It's the one that had the least hype by some distance, for much the same reasons as you outlined, but by and large the responses have been universally positive outside of the usual "Diznee sux, fire Kathleen Kennedy" circles.

Easily the best live-action Disney Star Wars so far, whowouldathunk.

So far it's really f***ing good, but episode 3 went beyond that {Spoiler}The banging and Maarva talking about a reckoning coming, and that when it gets quiet is when it's worst. When it got quiet at the end of the episode, you can just feel those people are ready to take on the Empire. Like was said earlier, pockets of the Rebellion are fomenting, and the Pre-Mors just gave birth to another one.

The Bryar Pistol kinda confirmed my feeling that Andor is basically Dark Forces Kyle Katarn.

I couldn’t have cared less when this show is announced, but after thinking about it I am somewhat interested just at the audacity of the premise alone. Developing a character, who we know is ultimately doomed, after failing to develop him in the movie he didn’t really stand out in, where he was more of a mere cipher than an actual character despite the talents of Diego Luna, and stretching that into multiple seasons actually intrigues me. I imagine it might actually give them enough leeway with this little pocket of the galaxy that isn’t particularly connected to the big stuff to maybe get really wild with it and make something meaningful with it.

I had very little interest in this series when it was first announced but, it has been the best live-action Star Wars content since Mando Season 1. Easily.

I've only watched episode one so far, and I liked it a lot. I, however, do find it odd the discrepancy between what Cassian said about his involvement with rebellion (or at least fighting against the Empire) in Rogue One versus what I have seen so far (The whole I've been in this fight since I was a kid bit), since at this point he seems to be some kind of low level "criminal" (doing stuff that probably wouldn't be illegal in the first place well... beside the pew pew fighty fighty stuff) who is about to get caught up in something bigger than he expected because some security guy decided to actually do his job. Which I think is very intriguing and sorta hilarious.
I can't believe how riveting they somehow made all the bureaucrat stuff surrounding the investigator dude and the security forces - It painted such a great picture of the setting.

Once again reminding me of just how much they botched the Sequels. I also liked how the security boss was 100% correct in his off-the-cuff description of what he think happened. And the investigator is all pissed off and wants to do it by the book. It's good writing to have two correct answers yet they are at complete odds with each other.
