That's because Tommy and Adam were the only old school rangers worth a damn. (That's just what I imagine a studio's opinion would be, not my own.) They’re missing out on that sweet Amy Jo Johnson nostalgia money. I imagine she had to be the first crush of a lot of millennials. Edit: Nuts just beaten to it! Oh well, great minds and all that I would be so offended... If that wasn't true about me.

Lisa the Vegitarian. To this day I will never forgive the McCarthys for their asinine, and downright hypocritical demand to keep Lisa a vegetarian from then on. (You're doing that while literally spreading a message about not forcing your beliefs on others? Screw you!) I do love that billboard in that episode that says: “Don’t eat beef….Eat deer!” I simply cannot hate that episode due to the entirety of the 2'nd act which includes: "You Don't Win Friends with Salad!" "Sleep, That's when I'm a Viking!" "The Independent Thought Alarm." "Colored Chalk is forged by Lucifer himself." "Meat and You: Partners in Freedom" (One of the overall best segments in the long history of the show.) "Gazpacho/Go back to Russia." and of course... "It's just a little dirty...it's still good it's still good." All of those totally make up for the propaganda laden third act in my opinion. (And even then there are still some good bits there as well.)

It’s still good.”

"Lisa Goes Gaga" is often the popular example, but "The Musk Who Fell to Earth" is f***ing bad fanfiction in terms of celebrity ass-kissing.
Hell, it seems like a lot of Al Jean episodes often revolve around "here is the celebrity, ain't they great?!" And before people mention how a few of the early episodes were like that, it was nowhere near as horrible as it got after he took over from Mike Scully, who was no prize pig, either.

(You're doing that while literally spreading a message about not forcing your beliefs on others? Screw you!) I agree it's a strict demand, but it's still one of my favorites due to the David Mirkin jokes such as "Look it's Mrs. Potato Head! She has a head made out of lettuce!" and "Help yourself to this tripe."

Simpsons Elon Musk episode. Puke. That SNL where they made Elon Musk the host has aged like milk. Not quite a guest star but this bit of Star Trek Discovery has aged horribly. You know, I've come into a lot of threads to find what I came to say was already said, or even just said, but rarely do I find myself the fourth person in a row (and sixth person overall) to say the same thing. It's kind of impressive, really. Anyway, all those self inflating cameos Elon Musk has paid for definitely count. They're all pretty cringe, and as an added bonus, they've also aged very badly. The Star Trek and Simpsons examples in particular, though his Iron Man cameo is particularly pathetic (movie, not a show, but still). How about the Big Bang Theory episode where he secretly helped out at a soup kitchen, as that's absolutely a thing he would do?

Every episode of Friends with Bruce Willis in it. His character was terrible and it was obvious that he wasn’t trying very hard. And yet they not only kept him around but they made him a love interest for Rachel.

The Rock’s birthday episode of RAW, 2011. My god that was atrocious.

I honestly don't think much of it considering that if, after the episode, Lisa just went back to eating burgers, etc, what would the point be? I know Simpsons rarely cares that much about continuity, but this is one of those things that fit the direction Lisa was going in, anyway, so that'd have probably been the right move regardless.

I vaguely remember some episode of Family Matters (or some TGIF show) where they had some D-list celebrity play themselves while everyone on the show treated them like Tom Cruise. Even at the time, I was like “every single member of this cast is a bigger star than this.”

I love Clerks the Animated Series doing the inverse, where for no particular reason, Jay and Silent Bob seemed to revel in tormenting Charles Barkley. He'd show up, do nothing to provoke them, and then just get abused. I honestly wonder if he knew they were going to do that when he agreed to voice himself, or if that was a blindside.

Agreed. Paul was not pushing his beliefs on anyone. If he called up the producers and demanded they make a character vegetarian in exchange for him appearing maybe. But they wrote it and called him. He only asked that they not back down on it. Promoting it as a healthy lifestyle choice not a passing fad.

Every sitcom/variety show in the 1970s. It's especially annoying when the sitcoms go into their final seasons. Not every obscure guest star needs a thirty second applause break.

Even at the time, I was like “every single member of this cast is a bigger star than this.” At the very least that sort of practice got the Bushwhackers a main event match out of the deal so it wasn't all bad. (Though too bad they ruined said push by going into business for themselves part way through the match. )

The image of Luke with the water bottle was weird but Reginald was probably thinking “This is the bottom of my career.” The article even said there was talk about possibly another appearance in a future episode but since that episode was so bad (RD Reynolds inducted it) that it never happened.

Not quite a guest star but this bit of Star Trek Discovery has aged horribly. I cringed at that, but it also looks makes a weird amount of sense that {Spoiler}the guy from the Mirror Universe would think of Musk as an inspirational figure. Though that SpaceX model rocket in Ryder's quarters in Mass Effect Andromeda is pretty cringe.

The Rock’s birthday episode of RAW, 2011. My god that was atrocious. I know it has been a long time, but I will always remember Pitbull appearing, Paul Walker and Vin Diesel wishing Rock a happy birthday (and phoning it in), and also a bit with Vickie Guerrero and Mae Young. That was a weird episode of Raw. Oh, and at the top of the show, Rock saying "we got him" in the wake of Bin Laden's death.

The Lady GaGa episode of the Simpsons is what did it for me as a fan, it was an advert for her brand almost entirely devoid of anything approaching jokes. 'Oh my goodness, she's quirky and self deprecating! Love her!!!'
