Anyone remember that old episode of the Super Mario cartoon dedicated to Milli Vanilli, where Princess Peach Toadstool and Wendy Kootie Pie were revealed to be huge fans of theirs, the two singers voiced their own characters despite their horrendous accents, they played some of their real songs, and then like a month later they were revealed to be complete frauds? The cherry on top was when they were being forced to perform for the Koopas and one of them actually said "How are we supposed to perform without our back-up singers?" Has the original version seen the light of day since the 1990s? I’ve watched the episode several times. I think on Netflix, a YouTube, upload, and maybe even some physical media releases. As you’d expect they edit out the original Milli Vanilli music and just have them dance as a generic instrumental plays instead. Probably not. Only reason I remember the episode at all is because I have an old VHS tape with that and about 14-15 other episodes I recorded back when it was still airing. While we're on the subject, does anyone else still use the voices from that cartoon when reading dialogue in the video games?

I meant them mocking the trope Thing is, they weren't. In the fallout of Armstrong's scandal the director talked about how they played it straight as that was what the movie needed, and that if they had taken the more satirical route it would have aged better but not worked as well. Wait, they thought that was playing it straight? And not making fun of the whole "hero of the main character gives them a last minute peptalk" trope? That's heartbreaking

The Mel Gibson episode of the Simpsons.
The episode itself is entertaining but oh boy has the whole almost saint like portrayal of Mel Gibson has aged like milk.

Tommy in the 25th anniversary episode of Power Rangers. 9 other returning rangers but they keep making it about how awesome Tommy in particular is. Tommy pretty much spoiled Power Rangers for me once he became the White Ranger. What makes it grating for me, isn't that Tommy was presented as so much better, it's that the rest of the team was brought down to be beneath him. And that's even without the whole, Zordon bringing him back without the others knowing, then making him leader with no in-universe explanation (Yes the departures of Jason, Zack & Trini were around the corner but Tommy's return came not long after an entire episode about Jason's guilt over what happened to Tommy and him doubting himself as a leader). Power Rangers in general needs to get over Tommy Oliver. Heck, it needs to get over MMPR in general.
