I think they wanted to give OC a true moment. They've kind of had Ego waiting in the wings so they probably wanted to start to build towards that. I'm here for Ethan Page being the first in line to challenge Orange Cassidy for the AEW All-Atlantic Championship as they were kind of planting the seeds for him taking out comedy characters with his match with Danhausen as well as him referring to himself as All-Atlantic Ethan Page in some promos a few weeks ago. So, yeah... A natural progression of his arc would be challenging the Freshly Squeezed on down the road. Ironically the only comedy spots in the match tonight were by PAC, OC was all bizness.

Orange Cassidy needed to get the job done, and so glad he did.

wait All-Atlantic? When did AEW introduce that belt? Is it wrong I had no idea this belt even existed until just now? I thought it was just some other indy fed's belt. It was introduced before Forbidden Door via a small tournament of qualifiers, the first champion, PAC, was crowned at Forbidden Door in a four way with Malakai, Miro, and Clark Connors (Filling in for the injured Tomohiro Ishii) He proceeded to defend it overseas at Rev Pro twice in the UK and then IWC in Ireland before having the first US defense of it at All Out Zero Hour vs Kip Sabian, this is by design as Khan said he wants this to be a belt defended in other promotions to give it a real international feel. All matches the AAC are defended on overseas/in other promotions are aired on AEW DARK for free. He then defended it against Cassidy one time before, and at Battle of the Belts against Trent, both times he won with the ring bell hammer, which is why it was a storyline here.

This was the correct decision. Even if he only has a short reign, he desperately needed a title win

Selfishly, I’m very down on PAC losing but, OC needed this more than anyone on the roster.

Honestly? Feels like to little to late.

Honestly? Feels like to little to late. I mean if that's how you personally feel then that's fine, but Cassidy is still super over with live crowds and, per WrestleNomics, is still one of the Top 10 merch movers in the entire company. I would've liked to see him win the TNT Title either of the times he faced Cody but I don't think the delay in pulling the trigger hurt him at all.

Honestly he'll probably always be over to a degree. Kinda like Santino. But IMO he deserved a big win earlier.

This does feel like his first big singles win since the Jericho ones in mid-2020, doesn't it? Have I missed one? EDIT: Oh yeah, Adam Cole earlier this year (But that was a Lights Out match, so it doesn't count )

I don't necessarily agree the change happened too late as OC is still insanely over bur I do agree a title win whether this or the Trios title should have happened earlier.
I do still have my theory that Grand Slam was supposed to be his crowning moment and use a couple weeks to build it up but the Punk/Elite situation changed a bunch

1. Finally! It's about time. 2. Get him to DDT asap! Although Eddie will be pissed if OC faces Jun before him.

Great match and much deserved win.
Side note: I love that PAC is officially a heel again (even if very little has changed about him)

See I agree he should already have held a belt, but it's one of those things where this means a lot more now that he finally has done.
OC could absolutely be a World Champ one day.

He had to win last night considering all the other heel wins in the advertised matches. It was super obvious he was winning but great match and some incredible sells from PAC.
OC should have been disqualified for Danhausen laying his hands on PAC but il let this minor mistake fly! At least PAC still has a belt.
