I really wish the Halloween special didn't happen and we just ended with Velma dead.

That's why shows that get successful from outrage or hate watching are ultimately doomed. If there isn't something entertaining underneath, that hate eventually turns to indifference and people stop watching.

Marla Frumkin can now retake her throne as the worst Velma.
Something I love...there was a 6 year old or so YouTube video with Frumkin Velma "highlights". It USED to be called "the worst Velma ever." The person who posted it went back to it in 2022 or so to edit in the word "formerly" before "worst"
And unlike Kaling, at least we like to say Frumkin was the "worst Velma" in a memetic way.

I've only seen bits and pieces of this show when people online were talking about how bad it was Did ANYBODY like this show? Scooby had the good sense to have his agent reject this fiasco at least. Wait, Scooby Doo wasn't even on this thing?! What were you doing people?

I didn't watch it but i saw clips of it and i think i made the right call. I adored the series when i was a kid. The original series, APNSD, the animated and live action films i still hold in high regard. Why ruin it by watching what looked like an average parody series that looked no fun?

Never caught a single episode. Can anyone summarize what made it so bad?

Never caught a single episode. Can anyone summarize what made it so bad? It was just incredibly mean spirited to the source material and full of juvenile edgelord "jokes".

It got canceled? And to think, they would have gotten away with it if it wasn't for that meddling audience! Never caught a single episode. Can anyone summarize what made it so bad? It was just incredibly mean spirited to the source material and full of juvenile edgelord "jokes". I never watched it, but I have to wonder who they thought they were appealing to? I mean I never liked Scooby Doo growing up, but if I was tasked with creating a show, I would do everything I could to try to respect the material, no matter how silly it might seem to me...afterall I'm not making a show for me. This does give me some hope in humanity. The fact that everyone agrees that this is terrible, I wonder how many peace treaties we could get signed if we sat everyone down and forced them to watch this?

Never caught a single episode. Can anyone summarize what made it so bad? Imagine a show that parodies wokeness, made by the anti-woke dipshits who fester on YouTube. That's basically Velma. Velma is a Indo-Latina lesbian who hates men. Daphne is an Asian lesbian vapid mean girl stereotype with a crush on Velma. Norville is a black stoner with a crush on Velma. Fred is a selfish, over-privileged white frat guy with a small penis. The group's overall dynamic is rooted in who can play the biggest victim card and insulting each other. Throw in shit like making fun of the #MeToo movement, portraying all white male characters as scumbags, with a healthy dose of transphobia, and you've got a show hated by pretty much everybody.

More to the point, it was just crap. It seemed to have been designed to piss off fans of the show.

It's what happens when an existing property is used as a vehicle by the creator to espouse their own personal views rather than respecting the defined traits of the property and characters.
