Scooby peaked with Zombie Island and never recovered Mystery Inc disagrees. The live action Cartoon Network movie about them first meeting in high school was surprisingly good, too. Hayley Kiyoko was a pretty good Velma (granted, this was before Hayley herself came out as lesbian IIRC, but that's some interesting foreshadowing lol).
But yeah, I really liked Mystery Inc. It had some really fun guest stars, too.

And like clockwork people hate watching has propelled the series to success instead...it's the current top trending series on HBO Max and currently charting as one of the most popular TV series on the service. -_- That's generally unsustainable, isn't it? How many people hatewaychimg will watch the whole series? If there's a big dropoff, and I suspect there will, it's one series and dome.

www.giantfreakinrobot.com/ent/mindy-kaling-velma-series-broke-record.htmlHere's a crazy idea: What if instead of bitching about Velma on here and on social media, we don't discuss the show at all, and thus people don't check out the show to see how bad it is themselves, giving it more views? If enough people do this, viewership will go down, and the show will be cancelled.

There's going to be a lot of curiosity about the show just because it was a hyped "adult" take on Velma. Then people checking out the first episode just to see if it is that bad or not after reading the negative reactions.
There's usually a massive dropoff in viewership where the consensus is that it's bad outside of people who decided to watch the entire thing out of some sick or professional obligation. Especially since HBO Max is releasing the series by episode instead of dumping the entire thing at once like Netflix does.
The only real hope the show has for its success to be sustainable beyond its premiere is that the later episodes are dramatically better.

I think people tend to overstate the power of hatewatching. Iron Fist got a huge hate watch bump just based on poor reviews, but the second season, despite actually improving, was dead in the water. Even now, five years later, the stink of it is so bad that, in all the talks of bringing Marvel Netflix into the greater MCU, not one person has seriously considered Iron Fist. Now, take that, and remember that Netflix drops its shows whole seasons at a time. So, where Iron Fist might have a heavily watched first season on paper, hatewatched or otherwise, Velma will almost certainly have a much watched first episode or two, and then a significant plummet as folks say "oh, it's shit". Don't be surprised if we get news this show was canceled by month's end.

I have a feeling Mindy Kaling's reputation's gonna take a beating through the airing of this show's (most likely) single season. Given she's a TERF who likes J.K. Rowling's shit, she already had a head start before this aired. I had no idea about this. Now I have another reason to not want to watch this.

Never liked scooby doo but heard all the talk about it and thought I'd give it a shot as well. That has to be one of the most racist shows i've seen in a while lmao. Literally every single character is a stereotype. Forget being bad to some old ass property, this shit f***ing sucks ass. Genuine bottom of the barrel. A buddy of mine was saying the same thing, and that this was the worst show he's seen in the past 13 months. From the little that I've seen, I'm inclined to agree.

Scooby peaked with Zombie Island and never recovered Mystery Inc disagrees. I like Mystery Inc, too, but the forced romantic sub-plots tend to drag things down. 13 Ghosts, Zombie Island, Witch's Ghost, and Ghoul School are all personal favorites of mine. I prefer when the series leans more towards supernatural phenomena. I'd like to see a Scooby Doo version of Gravity Falls.

I may not be seriously considering Finn Jones but I will be sad if Henwick doesnt come back.

People are blaming the high ratings for Velma on people hate-watching.
I think people underestimate how bad the entertainment taste of the average person is. There’s a reason reality shows are, or at least, used to be, so popular.

Currently very Rotten on RT with a critics' score of 55% with 20 reviews, and an audience score of SEVEN percent with 3911 reviews.
To put that into perspective, even Captain Marvel and Ghostbusters 2016, who had well publicized review bombing campaigns lobbed against them, eventually leveled out in the 40s. That means that even the folks who you would expect to counter review for the sake of LGBT POC representation said "nah, this is terrible".

Remember, they got rid of classic Looney Tunes and The Flintstones but gave the nod to this.

Velma is the worst thing to happen to the Scooby-Doo franchise since Scrappy-Doo.
