This just proves that critics score don’t mean shit in the long run, I absolutely loved it. Kang was really menacing. And everyone was great in it

Saw it yesterday and enjoyed it. Wasn’t my favorite Marvel movie, but I wasn’t expecting it to be. Watched it in a 4DX theatre for the first time and I’m one and done. It moved too much for my liking. Saw Jurassic World Dominion that way and it’s a cute little way to watch a movie but anything with a plot that I care about I could see me absolutely hating it.

The reaction to Modok from non comics fans is pretty hilarious.

The reaction to Modok from non comics fans is pretty hilarious. Honestly the reactions from many comic fans is also hilarious but for different reasons. The comic fans complaining how he looks in the film are funny as hell. Like MODOK is just one of the absolute visually goofiest things ever created in comics. Even when they make him look threatening in the comics you have to pretty much focus squarely on his head, the moment your gaze wanders to the arms and legs the illusion of threat is broken because his face can be drawn as an absolute menace and his little baby limbs just out on the sides wiggling without fail draws a “snrk”. Legitimately this might have been the only real way they could have worked him into the MCU. It was their only real opening to logically slot him in, otherwise they just would have had to go, “Welp…here’s MODOK.” Plus his face plate is literally his face from the comics only golden, and actually looks kinda badass, so I don’t really get the complaints. That visual is still there.

Yeah... I didn't have high hopes for MODOK when it was announced. I just don't see any good way to bring he(it) into live action... which is probably why what happened, happened.

Yeah MODOK has always looked like a complete goof. The CGI isn't the greatest for him in the movie, but I can't really see how it'd work better in live action without using so much CGI that it's basically a Roger Rabbit situation lol.

Right. And people acting like Modok ain't just goofy as f***. If Kirby has wanted to make him threatening he surely could have, I'm convinced he's goofy intentionally.

Saw it tonight, thought it was fine. The MODOK thing was goofy as all get-out, but was overall harmless. My biggest complaint was that Cassie often came across as if they wrote kid-Cassie for this film. I was very happy with how Kang came off, especially with all the buildup in Loki. I'm excited to see where things go from here, especially tying in some of the movies that don't obviously fit the multiverse storyline.

Yeah, he's probably meant to look goofy and creepy. Sort of like how Kalibak is supposed to look strong, sure, but also like an idiot.

I gotta disagree with the takes on MODOK here, he looks like shit. Yeah he looks goofy in the comics but cmon man, that looks like shitty Photoshop. Like there’s a million ways they could’ve pulled it off and they didn’t even try.

Weirdly enough, the only time I gave two shits about MODOK was the Avengers game. The game ended up pretty meh after the story was over but I thought he was fine there. Otherwise though, I just don't care enough about MODOK to even have an opinion on his appearance here. Could have been a cutout of him held up by a stick and I would have the same reaction of "meh."

I will just say I didn't feel MODOK was particularly necessary for the story... {Spoiler}Nor was giving him an heroic redemption.

{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}I feel like MODOK and specifically it being Cross was a way to link the first Ant-man movie to this one. I'm probably wrong, but that's the only thing I could think of.

Oh he definitely didn't serve much purpose. Really felt like "well we're never gonna do him anywhere else."
And it does look stupid, I just don't think it was never not gonna. Though maybe they should have just kept him helmeted.

They don't have to use _every_ Marvel character.Or at least, there's no need to treat every character seriously. If you're going to do MODOK, do it in a comedy. Do it in Deadpool or She-Hulk where the main character can rip him to shreds for being goofy af. Save him for whatever they're going to do with Squirrel Girl (they're going to do something with Squirrel Girl, it's inevitable).

And to think…everyone could have been saved MODOK’s goofiness if they just let Agents use him like they wanted to.
