Yuta was looking like a star after those matches with Moxley and Danielson. But those matches were in late March/early April. That was 8 months ago. He has barely been used prominently since then, and definitely seems to have cooled off. He's a young lion, that's gonna happen, but every time he wrestles the crowds still super into him, so I think he'll be just fine personally. This isn’t NJPW, this is a company with weekly television. Most of the time, the right play is to strike while the iron is hot with the audience, not slow play it for “somewhere” down the road.

Garcia is an odd one. AEW put so much work into getting him over and they did such a good job with it, too. Then when it came to sticking the landing it just got dropped. The crowd were desperate for Garcia to choose wrestling and walk out on Jericho and every week seemed to be building to it happening. Then it didn't. I don't think Garcia is ice cold and I don't think it'll take much to reheat him. It's just odd that AEW didn't pull the trigger when everything was poised for it to happen. Maybe Khan thought that Jericho vs Garcia wasn't blockbuster enough for Final Battle? Maybe having the ROH title so heavily involved changed plans a little. IDK. If that is the line of thought it seems really strange considering both matches announced for this PPV so far are rematches of ones that were on free TV and are part of a feud that had a goddamn War Games match six months ago and is still f***ing going for some reason. I'd think Jericho eating a sandwich would make for a more interesting card than what's presently announced for Final Battle.

No, because they've made it clear after that she's another body on the roster after her debacle debut. When you book a talent like a loser, don't be surprised when people eventually believe and act like she is one. As we have seen with Pillman and Garrison.
I've got no interest in her assaulting Aubrey, why should I? Because she's a Ref and it's gonna lead to a Ref vs Wrestle match?
No, because nobody’s touched Aubrey and puts Athena over as dangerous and unhinged (because she got suspended for it) which is, again, the last few weeks of her character development and rebuild. You know, the thing you do to make people change their minds and believe differently. It’s basically hard to take the opinion that people are done when you won’t at least get some context on what’s going in clear as day on the show. It’d be like me ignoring them trying to rebuild Austin Theory on Raw and I just pretended he was still the goober that lost for months. Giving up on a show and then keeping the same takes you had months ago about characters on the show, and acting like they're still true in the current day, in any media, is going to make you look bad, like at the time, you had a point, but when the characters moved on to completely different arcs, saying "Oh I gave up on them and the show long ago, they're useless" is like... holding a grudge, and not a healthy one. Like you said with Theory, it'd be like if I stopped watching RAW before Judgement Day even happened, saw Dominick Mysterio, and went "Oh jesus christ why are they still trying with this overexposed greenhorn goober?" while not having seen a thing of his heel turn, or his development character wise with Rhea. Shit changes fast, especially in wrestling, shit changes REAL fast.

Got incredibly tired of this over the year and didn't care about the Daniel Garcia thing at all cause I felt like I already knew how it was gonna go and then it literally went exactly like I figured
Basically I agree lmao

It has to be hard to balance who to use every week, once you pencil in all of the guys and girls that absolutely have to be on the show then you’re left with a handful of spots to fit everyone else in. I know that we all think that it’s pretty simple and we could do it, but it not nearly that easy. Who and what TK gives TV time has been, kind of baffling, recently as well?

It really was a gigantic missed opportunity not doing a double turn of him and Garcia. The crowd desperately wanted to cheer Garcia and Yuta's already been established as an opportunist who will shift loyalties to get ahead, it'd have made perfect sense and done a lot to escalate the feud instead of just doing the same thing they were doing when Yuta beat Garcia at Death Before Dishonor five months ago.

He's given a lot of the roster screentime recently. Most talents get shown week over week on both TV programs in some capacity?

I won't disagree that a double turn wouldn't have been awesome to see, though I stand by that I think Garcia and Yuta will be ok. I think Tony sees them as the future of AEW and even ROH itself. And they are two I can say that with confidence the way they've been used.

Everyone at the time was saying that a star was born and he was the fifth pillar.

Kind of been my main issue with Khan's booking. Too many guys have felt like they had some major white hot momentum and Khan did not know how to follow it through. Even compared to last year, there seems like a lot of guys like Miro, Darby and Eddie who felt like they have lost the momentum they had last year and almost seem like they are just stumbling around in random feuds.

I know people may be (rightfully) sour on my clickbaity thread title but this is what Im getting at. Tony, more than most bookers, can get someone so hot. He does it constantly. I called it the TK special because he reversed course so often. I also may have worded this way because I think AEW has become so terribly booked it’s almost shocking to me.

Like those were star making moments, the dude proved himself to a wide audience, he's been over ever since I do think he's the future of the company, but I also took into consideration he's still very young, and will likely be built up as such. Slowly.

Eddie's still white hot over, MJF mentioned him in a single sentence and the entire crowd chanted his name Miro's had issues with movie shoot timing and House of Black becoming a non entity right when he came back, but he's also still very over and will get momentum right back when he shows up again Darby's been with Sting, everything they've done has been over, and people seem to really love the act, and it's been helping Darby out imo, dudes gonna be a part of Muta's last match, I'm sure he's enjoying this Do they need a feud to sink into? I can agree with that, but it doesn't feel like they've lost anything with the crowds.

And given the response in this very thread, including the comment "I feel like we're watching a different show" with a ton of likes on it, that's not a sentiment shared by everyone, neither is the "Tony Khan Special" being a thing. It being "terribly booked" is very subjective, hell the response Full Gear got here was extremely positive, and personally, I think the bookings been really hitting on all cylinders since we got close to, and are now past Full Gear, now that we're getting past the Punk ripple effect.

He was kind of a background/ancillary character, then he was pushed quickly to the top of the card with those wars against Moxley and Danielson, and then he kind of faded back down the card over the next 8 months, with one or two blips of relevance during that time.

Yeah, wrestling opinions are subjective so no one is right or wrong here, but I personally think AEW has been booked very well since All Out. It’s felt like a return to form, to me. With respect to the concerns raised in this thread, I guess I don’t understand what “striking while the iron is hot” is with respect to some of these people. Wardlow beating MJF and getting the TNT title was exactly that, to me. Garcia and Yuta outright main evented several TV shows. To me, not everyone can be the world champion. So if “striking while the iron is hot” is nothing short of making someone a main eventer in the traditional sense, then it’s pretty much functionally impossible.

The dude is 26, him having big time moments to show he can take it to the next level is a big deal, but he doesn't need to immediately be in huge feuds all the time to still be over, he's still over and the crowds have proven it especially with the MJF feud he had He has been used absolutely fine and he has plenty of time to get white hot and push up the card, but him not continuing to have the huge push he had at the start isn't surprising to me, but it's not like, to me, that they don't care or they aren't still using him in places they can, like the MJF feud, and now next week on Dynamite My point is I guess that I don't think it's a huge deal and I think Wheeler Yuta is gonna be great, and they've shown they love him. Dude's not gonna lose much of anything when time comes for him to be used more again, and that seems to be happening right now.

Not saying he needs to be a constant main eventer, but he did fade into the background quite hard. The MJF “feud” was a 2-week program that happened in October, 6 months after the Moxley/Danielson matches.

And he had great matches with Garcia when those Mox/Danielson matches were through, and multiple tag/trios matches to keep his momentum up, and the MJF program may have been short but it was still a hot feud where Yuta was over and got great segments like brawling in the skybox The fact Yuta's being pushed more to the foreground again is a good thing anyway, again, I think he's just fine.
