I agree that Punk should not have a job and faced no consequences that we can see
That said, if I cared enough about that to stop watching, I would, and that is a different discussion to a silly wrestling angle
I cannot believe how heated people are getting about this
And even thinking it's stupid, the 'I never lost the belt' angle is like. A constant in wresting, even if you think the way they're doing it is stupid?
But also defending it too hard is a bit weird too because any subtextual interpretation of any of this does make Punk out to be a weirdo, which he is

Agree that this isn't exactly containing much of anything when it comes to I think the perceived issues are when it comes to at least this board, if it's negativity and "bad takes" I feel those get argued in several threads, hell we are now arguing about if Wembley will even be a good card because no matches have been announced yet it's... really only served to keep the Punk stuff in one thread outside of the live ones... somewhat lol And I agree, ever since it was confirmed Punk came back, the mood of this thread changed, because everyone was sure he was gone and it was just a big meme party. Not gonna lie, and I'm not saying people aren't justified in feeling that way, but since that moment, this thread went from lighthearted to in many cases, miserable, and that's on all sides, to the point a Mod is now ready to square up on the userbase for it That to me is a giant red flag that this has outstayed its welcome, it's literally tearing at the entire structure of FAN itself, and idk that's... that's not good. It feels like we need a gigantic intervention on like a Discord Server or giant DM Thread something to actively talk this out if it's even feasible because it's not seemingly improving, this is showing it's actively degrading. Who is the arbiter of what are 'bad takes' and 'hyperbolic negativity' vs someone just not liking something? I don't know and I'm not gonna try and say I have the authority or decisions to know, I can only go by what I see myself and I'm not saying I'm right I'm saying how it comes off. I know I've come off plenty hyperbolically negative myself even without the intention, it happens a lot, sometimes it's hard to convey your emotions and thoughts through text and things can be misconstrued, but at the same time I do think there has been a lot of negative posting on this board especially lately, and I'm not saying a lot of it hasn't been civil or constructed, but I also don't think this thread has contained anything of that rhetoric, if people have issues with a product it's likely not gonna stay confined to a singular thread. |

I'm just kind of, "It's over, the shitbag won," on it. Not watched Collision, not even checking results on it, never going to watch it, and it's really just kind of spread to not really even paying attention to Dynamite at this point and actively rooting for the Elite to jump ship. Whole situation's just gross but assholes win, that's the way the world is.
Can't really be bothered to follow the updates on it or what Punk does or if the crowd's booing him or whatever because it doesn't matter anymore. He won.

I think he's a cringey asshole who should have been punished for what he did, and I'm also enjoying this run and am aware that the booking is nothing to do with him. It's perfectly possible for those things to both be true

Others have discussed the real life aspects of Punk's return better than I ever could, so what I do want to highlight is how the contrived nature of his current status has weirdly rendered him as on screen character. Punk having the belt he never lost isn't necessarily heelish behavior (he did in WWE after all), but especially after that Collision promo, I'm at loss to precisely understand what he is. Even getting beyond the status of Collision as his show, it feels at times like Codyverse 2.0 where Punk's stuff is just in its own bubble separate from everything else. The fact that the person who was champion after him (Moxley) is a heel now, and the heel official champion Punk should be theoretically going after (MJF) is currently a pseudo babyface getting huge pops just makes things more confusing.

If we held every wrestler to the same standard as Punk, there would be hardly any wrestlers to like. Look at the visceral reaction to how he’s booked. People hate him. In a way we hardly ever see. And that’s okay! I like when people feel strongly about wrestling. The magic has returned. |

It at least makes things interesting in the sense of you're not sure where things are going. Like I'd be shocked if the idea was like, having big daddy CM Punk beat up the mean MJF and be the big world champion and parade it around on both shows and the Elite can blow him live on Wednesdays and Saturdays. There's some nuance to this, but I'm at least willing to see where it goes. Of course Punk could just be doing a Cody, a dude who wanted to live out his 80s Hogan self indulgence in a company of dudes who mark over Bret Hart, and really think he's a righteous edgy hero guy forever and ever. But I dunno. |

Other than Punk is anyone treating this like an actual title? The crowd treated Punk like a heel tonight and he went back to his "i'm better you" straight edge talk which is pretty deliberately heelish Tony Kahn announced after Brawl Out that all four were stripped of their titles. Kayfabe wise I'd put this "title" just above the FTW belt. I'm just glad Ricky is being featured regularly in a major Angie. AEW put up a tweet with 'Real World Championship' in it. |

If you dislike something on a wrestleshow it means you're being tricked and deceived by the wrestleshow, and can't possibly just have a functioning ability to discern fiction from reality and not like either. Because if that's the case, then someone who disagrees with you isn't just thinking differently of something but gets to be superior toward you, the mark. |

I mean I refuse to watch WWE at all due to all of the scummy people involved. Cant speak for others but its a whole other level
and regarding booking, it was reported both Ace and Punk are on charge of Punk's storyline, TK has the final say but he is Punk's bitch so does it even matter?
