So Britt, Jamie, Shida, Willow vs. Saraya, Toni, Ruby, Athena? Blood and Guts!?

Eh this just really really seems rushed (and stupid) to me
Turning Saraya heel 2 matches after a 5 year injury enforced absence is something and Toni randomly going after AEW homegrown sure is something as well
And they prove the point by attacking that true AEW homegrown……Willow who is then saved by that other true AEW homegrown……Ruby Soho
I always try to be positive but this is off to a really s****y start if I’m honest. AEW might be able to change my viewpoint but dunno if it’ll happen. Just my opinion though, fair play to anyone who disagrees.

Someone else pointed out another iffy thing to me. Toni was not booked well for most of her WWE run. And she’s been quite open about NOT really enjoying herself there. Ruby was also booked quite poorly in WWE there and then unceremoniously fired as well. So these women going “oh WWE is better” would feel quite forced. At least with Saraya she got actually pushed in NXT and early in her MR run. So it makes some sense with her. It honestly sounds quite common from I've heard in the sports world. You'll hear tons of stories of guys who had a miserable time on big time teams and then as soon as they go somewhere else they deem "smaller" they're unhappy there and complain that their team/teammates aren't good enough for them. Lmao, it’s happened/happening for real in AEW. So Britt, Jamie, Shida, Willow vs. Saraya, Toni, Ruby, Athena? Blood and Guts!? You madman.

I wouldn't overthink this so much; Saraya and Toni can both be booked with legit kayfabe gripes against the crowd ("I worked so hard to come back and to bring this division to the next level, and this is the reception I get?"/"I wore that title with pride, then you all cheered my former friend who turned against me AND cheated to beat me? Up yours") and could project their bitterness at the crowd onto the division's favorites, who are mostly the "homegrown". So it's less a roundabout "invasion" storyline or something and simply more about feeling disrespected...and if they allow their bitterness to go to their heads then it can turn into "I made my name before coming here and the company benefits from *me* being here", which makes the perceived disrespect sting that much more.
But yeah, I doubt Ruby's turning; they put the work into playing up her not being sure about teaming with Willow at first, but after last Rampage they obviously have one another's backs. She's also more of an underdog figure and can be the one who says the crowd stayed with her because she's true to herself, has never tried to play up that she's bigger than the division, etc.
End of the story? Honestly, it can be that the "originals" earn the respect of the others and prove once and for all that the women's division has truly grown into something much stronger than it started as/what it dipped to during the worst of the pandemic. It could end with a big final match or whatever but result in each side acknowledging one another with respect earned in the fight, that kind of thing.
...I just personally want Shida to say "I'm not on either side" and start her own crew, because the world needs Boss Shida.

I'm kinda fine with Saraya going heel just because I find her promo style exceedingly unlikable and heelish. The cadence of her performance drains my ability to be sympathetic in her matches.

Yeah, this is similar to when I hear people talk about how Buff Bagwell should have stayed face when he came back from injury. Some people just become more unlikable when you actually see/listen to them. Cool, sympathy for the injury, glad you're back... but you can't help coming across as a bit of an asshole so lean into the skills they have, rather than a circumstance that happened to them.
