Well, they had to address the elephant in the room sooner rather than later, but hot damn, they did so in the best way possible:
The above is just a short excerpt, but I recommend you seek out the segment in full when you can. Just a fantastic promo between the two current hottest faces in WWE right now.

Feel like after that you have to have Sami beat Roman at some point. Maybe it can wait for Backlash or something but it'd just feel like such a narrative dead end if he just loses at Elimination Chamber and that's the end of it.
Either way it does certainly feel narratively like Mania's going to see the chickens come home to roost for the Bloodline... but I'll believe it when I 1), see it, and 2), see the show fade to black without it being overturned.

Def a Montreal Screwjob level event happening for Sami. He will get the visual pin but he isn't winning
Money segment tho. Two babyfaces spilling their hearts out and Cody pep talk made you believe he can do it

KO hasn't been seen since the Rumble, he's def coming to set up the matchup But it is going to come after Sami gets screwed and beaten up but KO makes the save to end the show with them standing tall

Cody/Roman staredown, then they fight up the ramp while we still get Solo and Jey attacking Samii. Cue Owens for the save and the show going off the air with the Montreal boys embracing to (hopefully?) a loud pop.

Actually another thing I kind of expect - Sami's going to kick Jimmy's ass on SmackDown. Both explain him not being there and give Jey a reason to realign with Roman.

I would say that this might not happen, but Meltzer mentioned that Jimmy's now allowed in Canada again so this has a good chance of happening.

I said it in the live thread.
Really really ballsy decision to do this segment. They really could have kept them separated to make sure things didn’t go sideways. Instead, they faced it head on and trusted both guys to knock it out of the park.
A segment like that is an example of the change in booking philosophy since Vince left creative, it’s not all perfect but they’re willing to trust the talent more out there.

I think Sami beating Roman for the belt at Elimination Chamber could be huge.
Then you have Roman wanting his rematch at Mania for a triple threat with Cody, who now has a playfully competitive gripe with Sami for taking what was supposed to be his moment.
OR we have Cody vs Sami for the belt and then Roman vs The Rock or Roman vs Jey - neither of which need the title and, if anything, become far more compelling without the belt involved.
I know we all see Mania as a great be-all end all granddaddy of them all spectacle - and it is, it truly is the biggest card of the year - BUT a moment like Sami besting Roman in his hometown is the kind of amazing live-forever moment we'll always treasure. It's like Eddy beating Brock at No Way Out 2004. The timing was just too *too* perfect.
And we all know how Drew not winning at Clash of the Castle felt like a misfire. I know, we're in completely different circumstances now, but the Triple H administration might be wanting to learn from their mistake.
I'd still love Cody vs Roman at Mania - but wow, calling an audible and having Sami be the one to beat Roman for the title is absolutely worth considering.

Sami has to win. He has to beat Reigns, it’s his story. He won’t need a king reign, the moment is the win. Cody and Reigns isn’t personal, Sami/Reigns is one of the most personal stories in a decade+.
Cody’s story isn’t about beating Reigns, it’s about winning the belt his family never could.

As someone who has criticised WWE at times and wondered how they were going to deal with all of this well...
So far, they've dealt with this well. Like, Sami has to beat Roman at some point and seal the end of the arc and whether that's EC or down the road, that ain't my decision (and I'm grateful for that). This case, you make both men want to succeed in some ways and yeah, neither man is the Batista of this situation so why try and act like there is one?

Def a Montreal Screwjob level event happening for Sami. I expect Jey to turn on Sami at Elimination Chamber, screwing him out of the title. KO will make the save, setting up Sami & KO vs The Usos at WrestleMania.

I think that plan only depends on if they let him go to Montreal when they usually don't have both Usos go outside of the country because of all of Jimmy's shit. I mean, they absolutely should for this story but who knows?

KO will make the save, setting up Sami & KO vs The Usos at WrestleMania. If they do that, it would also leave a heck of a Summerslam match on the table, Sami getting his clear shot at Roman. Sami and KO winning the tag belts together is still a pretty big emotional win. If Jimmy simply cannot go, maybe have him get "hurt", then sub Solo into the match so the Usos don't have to forfeit. Also adds a grievance for the basis for a rematch for a PPV.

I'm very pleased that they're striking with both irons here instead of choosing one over the other. Shows that while Cody is the guy who'll be main eventing vs Roman, Sami isn't one to sleep on either. If this is any indication of what's to come, then I guess we'll be seeing Sami Zayn emerge as a main event player on top of being one of the company's top babyfaces. Him winning the tag titles just so happens to be on the road towards that.

I remember when Sami first turned heel in 2017, someone said here immediately that when he turns face again it will be a huge moment. I didn't expect that to happen on this level.
