Those are rather important chapters in Scrooge's story. Getting rid of them is getting rid of like half the story as it showed how he became the richest duck in the world and also was ostracized by his family.

Are either of these the story where it heavily implies that Scrooge raped Goldie?

Performative virtue signalling that won’t make a slight bit of difference except give YouTube channels some ragebait content.

Blech. I'm all for positive representation, but censorship like that just makes me nauseous.

For all the legacy I'd have to imagine any future reprintings are likely going to be aimed in large part at children and given that I don't really think, "Just release them anyway but have a disclaimer," is really the best approach to take because a lot of people are just plain going to look past anything like that anyway. I'm a-okay with pulling them.

I guess I better speed up my collector of these comics before they are gone.

Expecting parents to be intimately aware of problems surrounding and preview everything they pick up for their kids to consume is just unreasonable. If it's coming from a brand like Disney and involves prominent characters of theirs then there's a certain expectation that stuff should be fit to consume without having to be reviewed for content warnings first. And sure, I suppose they could just put a prominent warning right on the cover where you couldn't miss it or something, but really why go through all the trouble to reprint shit where anyone who actually cares about it can likely easily find it online anyway.

Parents reading a disclaimer on a product they or their kid purchases is considered "being intimately aware"? And Disney produces all manner of products beyond G rated material that does and doesn’t include their prominent characters, they also come with ratings and warnings that parents are expected to be aware of. Hardly sounds unreasonable to me.

Why doesn't Scrooge McDuck just buy the rights to the comics himself and then just publish them?

Glad I got the life and times in issue form yeaars back.
Much younger cousin had a through the mail sub to Uncle Scrooge from a bit before that run to a bit after. When he was made to clean out his old room at his mom's he offered me his longbox.
Do wonder how long has it been since that Life&Times story was in print in TPB or hardcover?

Why doesn't Scrooge McDuck just buy the rights to the comics himself and then just publish them? You know how thrifty he is?

I think there's value in having discussions about the material, especially with children.
