I feel like Cody made the right decision when he returned to WWE... He did. I liked him in AEW, quite a bit, but his self-imposed ruling to never challenge for the title again seriously limited what they could do with him after a certain point, and the timing was good for him to go to WWE to fill a serious main event face void they were having. AEW would not be what it was without Cody, and Cody obviously benefited greatly from his time there, too, in terms of honing his presentation, having extremely important moments in his career like the Brodie feud, etc, and fortunately left without things getting toxic. |

A lot of y'all laughed about Cody's "I ended racism" promo, and yeah, it was dumb.
But his win tonight, him kissing Brandi in the ring...
For someone who has been told my entire life, with that same parental configuration, that I'll never be accpted by either...
...it's been over an hour and I'm still f***ing crying uncontrollably.

So is Cody WWE Champion only loving forward or is he also WWE Universal champion? On the site they have him listed as both. Though on the title history page they haven't updated the WWE title so Roman's still listed as holding it while Cody's listed as Universal. |

Nah it made perfect sense. It played into Roman and Seth history especially their previous match. Seth was the only person Roman couldn’t beat. He got disqualify because he couldn’t let go of Seth dressing up and torturing him with the shield motif. Roman lost the match because he couldn’t let go of Rollins original betrayal. The same betrayal that kept popping up throughout his reign. It’s so perfect for his reign to end because of the Shield connection. I’ll ask this like I do most of these things, did they address that in the match or in any segments before this one (since I only saw the clip) or are we adding context that isn’t there? Because that’s a wildly different thing. Several segments to be honest. Seth betraying Roman has been mentioned as a pretty big part of the Tribal Chief's narrative since Seth started feuding with Roman again 2 years ago. I would go more into it, but someone on Twitter did that already lol. One thing I'll give them credit for is consistently justifying why Seth is there and why he gets under Roman's skin so much. It was the thing they needed to tie together why this was Roman's story just as much as it was Cody's. |
